O'Canada
In honor of pre-season hockey starting tonight (swoon) here is a cute little story of child abuse.
http://espn.go.com/moresports/news/2...rtnersite=espn
"A father who allegedly grabbed his 10-year-old daughter by the face mask and shook it at a youth hockey game has been charged with assault, police said Wednesday."
"Last year, Hockey Canada launched a public campaign called "Relax, It's Only a Game" that focused on educating parents who had trouble controlling their emotions at youth hockey games."
I wonder if he would have been in trouble if it had been his son instead of his daughter. Anyway, the world has become quite the fucked up place when you can't throw your kid around for missing a penalty shot ---

In an attemp to break up the Texas love-fest, I'd like to add commentary to the cover letter discussion...
don't you just want to feel sorry for a guy who, at the age of 25 has a negative net worth?
What was the point of that comment? I have had, and probably will have a negative net worth for the rest of my life. Sorry Thrasher, I don't think I'll ever pay off that mortgage - it's just not in me. And the student loans. Does he think he's the only person who ever went to law school and accumulated student loans? That job at the Gap must not have paid very well.

Wow, that sucks that your house is worth less than the mortgage on it. Too bad, so sad.
(That, or you aren't taking into account that a house is a tangible ASSET and ASSETS are taken into account in determining net worth. Particularly tangible assets.)
Maybe you could hook up with that guy.

Having just purchased the house a few months ago, the house is worth exactly what the mortgage is. However, that high 5 figure student loan and car lease has put me over the top.
But why the hell am I explaining this to you. You don't really care, you just wanted someone else to pick on since your hurricane slams have run out. Funny hurricane jokes, but still....

See Burger, some people who probably don't even particularly like me are enjoying the hurricane jokes.
The student loans will probably go away eventually but yes of course I was mostly picking on you.

I feel really bitchy because the change in the atmospheric pressure is giving me a headache and a toothache and because Burger refuses to engage in a flame war with Fringey and I am frustrated, so forgive me for being a grammar timmy when I say how did your house just purchase your house a few months ago?
And also forgive me for being a personal finance timmy when I wag my virtual finger at you to say you should not lease a car when you have high five figure student loan debt and zero equity in your home.
On second thought, don't forgive me. Let's rumble. I am bored!

Forgive me for being a content timmy but "Burger refuses to engage" should be "Burger is incapable of engaging." But I'm in a meeting this afternoon so I couldn't help amuse you even if he were worthy.

Hell, good barbecue is worth a detour from my drive home from work in New England. Can't be too much longer than my regular rush-hour commute anyway.

Why am I doing this? Why?
OK, so I started the sentence with a dependent clause, but the I is understood - or at least should have been.
Second, I had a perfectly good car in law school, in fact it was 8 months old at the time this moron in a Volvo rear ended me. No, it wasn't a total, but let's just say the repairs were over half the value of the car. Car was never the same after that, so I leased another car while in law school since I couldn't pay for anything at the time - stupid Sallie Mae screwed me on my loan amount. long story - still mad at them.
Lease on that car runs out about the same time as student loan payments start to kick in. So I lease again because I don't want to be stuck driving a Honda Accord the rest of my life.
So what, I'm in lease hell. Whatever.
At least I have a car that runs, is under warranty and it looks gooooooood.

I'd play with you, but I'm afraid rumbling with your Tribute Sock could have an impact on your purity score.
Oh, hell, the innocence is gone anyway. What this board is doing to me! Let's go, you big old lumbering Tiger.

I'm going to go way out on a limb to predict that fringey busts you for this sentence vis-a-vis your negative net worth.

I was respecting the ignore function and didn't see it, but I'm too disgusted by the slur on Honda to bother with her money misconceptions.
