I, for one, keep my cars in impeccable condition. I will not be seen driving a rat. Maintenance is usually included (free oil changes, inspections, etc.). I even wax said leased car and condition the leather.
They inspect the car when you turn it in - they don't, however, check to see wheter you've kept proper inflation. But they do check for "undue wear." Not to be confused with underwear.
All maintenance is tracked in the computer, FYI.
There are as many people who ignore maintenance on their "purchased" cars - check any used car lot.
|
Leases vary. Maintenace is not included in many leases, but certainly my time to take the car in and leave it for awhile is not included. If its a car I own, I might be more likely to do so. Also, changing the oil and other maintenance can be done at places not tied to the dealers computer. They do inspect the car, but you can usually argue them out of much of what they'll try and charge you for. So I'm comfortable with my post. I hadn't thought of my theory until reading the post I replied to, so I guess I did pull the theory out of my ass as you say.

Question about sex

If you are in bed with someone really good looking (really good looking, not just cute) and that person's technique is not all that good, do they get a pass just because they are devastatingly beautiful/handsome? Or would you criticize them to your friends just as much when they are gone as you would someone not so good looking and equally lame in bed?
|
I have an answer.
They get a pass the first time. At least if you're a guy they do, because she's so fucking hot that it doesn't really matter. After that, she gets ridiculed behind her back. And eventually her hotness means nothing because, what's the point? Sure, your friends say, "DAMN she's hot. But you then have to say, "Sure. But the bitch can't screw and she gives lousy head." And they nod their heads thinking to themselves that they'd like to get a shot so they could confirm.
There is nothing worse than someone who doesn't know how to fuck.

I am devastated. I thought part of the reason a modern, civilized society allows single-sex educational institutions to persist is the hope that one day, when we are rich, fat and impotent, the trophy wife will regale us with stories of the brief shining moments she was a LUG art history major.

I also will normally give someone several chances. The first time is awkward enough.
But no, no one gets a pass for being beautiful. No more than she would get a pass for being beautiful but an asshole or vapid. I wouldn't be interested.
|
In my experience, post mortems tend to be reserved for one (OK, maybe two) night stands, not long term partners. Since you are willing to give extra chances, by definition, your partners don't fall into this category.
IMHO, it would be rude to date someone, allow one's friends to get to know her, and then trash her performance in bed just b/c things didn't work out in the long run.

No, honey. She'll have long since gone back to the source for some action, and won't be regaling you with play-by-plays.

Just to be serious for a moment, as I see the impact of Isabel starting to become more prominent here, everyone please stay safe tonight and tomorrow.
If you aren't Burger, don't go watching for flying signs, Burger can duck in time. You probably can't.
And no driving your cars into puddles that don't look deep but are. We all know where that leads. Especially if you lease your car. The owner would be most put out.

I don't think so. If you've slept with a REALLY hot girl, and your buddies say "man you're lucky -- I'd love to fuck her", the normal response is "trust me - nothing to write home to mom about - she was a terrible lay"...In fact I've heard this quite frequently.
Unfortunately you really can never tell. Mild-mannered Susie could be a fuck-beast, while drinking, smoking hot Tara could lay there like a stiff board...
In fact, it's usually the cute but not uber-hot girls that absolutely go ape-shit in the sack.
|
Isn't that true of all hot people? That they're more selfish and self centered and therefore bad in bed? Plus - who needs to be good when people are thowing themselves at you. Who's going to be there to tell you how bad you are when you can just go out and get someone new. Oh, the tragedy of being beautiful.

It's true of some, but not all. The hottest guy I've ever slept with was also the best.

That increases somewhat the value you receive by paying for the steeper depreciation during that period, but it has no effect on the Magliozzi thesis that the annual cost of maintenance (whether you pay it or someone else does) remains pretty consistent over time.
This issue is irrelevant to the lease v. buy debate --- I just wanted to address the widespread myth that the cost of keeping a old car running is an upward slope. It's not. The general trend line is flat; I think the Magliozzis found the average was about $800/yr or something for repairs and maintenance. You might not have repairs one year, and get hit for $1,600 the next, but it stays a relatively flat line.
If you budget --- and bank --- that for each year you own the car, you will probably keep it running to 150,000 miles or much more. The point is to debunk the idea that a car reaches a critical juncture at which the annual cost goes above that average and that you're doing yourself some kind of financial favor for getting rid of the car ( i.e., "Dump it before it really starts costing you money.") All of this analysis occurs outside the warranty window.
I've heard the Magliozzis say on the radio that, cost aside, reliability is a legitimate reason to dump a car --- if you can't stand the risk of breaking down by the side of the road, you should bear the additional cost of always being early in a car's life cycle. But again, this doesn't require that repair costs jump in year 8 or 10 like most people think they do. The Magliozzis concluded that the supposed jump was something people tell themselves on the showroom floor to convince themselves to do something they want to do but don't need to do, i.e., buy a new car when the old one is still running.

While I doubt as many of the menfolk as the womenfolk would hit the road due to a denial of, or inability at, oral sex, I bet there are some.

Speaking of hurricanes, thanks to the Phillies coming from behind and spanking the Marlins (oh, HAHA -- you pervs), the Braves have clinched their 12th division title.
