Main specifications are that it must be (1) leather, suede or ultrasuede and (2) not all squared-off and couchey looking (I don't want some sectional sofa type thing). I found one that I really liked the other day in a local furniture store (custom order, around $3,000) that was sort of Jetson's mod. I've been trying to find a picture to post, but not luck so far. Only problem I had with it was that it might not fit in with the other furnishings in the room, which are more traditional. So I just found this -

Chaises rule. I'm actually looking for a leather one with a full back and part of a side (this is a poor description). More of a 1920s chaise. Something you would find in Scott and Zelda's house.
I'm not spending $3000.
I like that one though.

I will take this as a positive response. Thank you, Mr. Nature Lover. As an aside, perhaps ownership of a funky cool chaise will significatly decrease my reality tv watching time. Maybe I'll even take up this whole "book reading" thing that Not Bob suggests. (it is unlikely to affect the amount of time I devote to kayaking however)

1) What about a more traditional chaise?
To wit,
2) Chaise Longue, not lounge.

Pssssst, this is the FB -- the reason you want a mod-ish chaise lounge is for the angles which can be used for variations when doing the sex.

I apologize. I am not a chaise person. I cannot picture that piece without seeing some fat bald guy in a toga lying on it getting fed grapes by annoyed, dirty cherubs holding broken lyres.

I think it would look cool without that arm or with two arms.

Do those more traditional ones meet my specification number (1) (leather, suede or ultrasuede)? Has anyone bought anything made out of ultrasuede? I have to admit that it seemed pretty cool in the store and it comes in any color. Also supposed to be entirely stain repellent*.
*fringey, is this sort of line of discussion more FB-worthy?

Not if the stain in question is the fruit punch you are drinking while reading.
I like that all the substantive comments on the actual furniture have been from men.

I think it would be more, uh, useful without the arm. That way you could more easily accomplish the kinky sex things upon it. Speaking of which, I would definitely go with teh ultrasuede, which can be waterproofed and protected against all kinds of stains.

I think the cover on the futon in my guest room is ultrasuede. It's good at not collecting too much siamese cat hair. I've never spilled anything on it so I don't know how it handles stains.
I hope that Sebby chimes in soon with a post about how tacky ultrasuede is so that I don't have to get rid of it.

ncs -- again, though posters sometimes use different words to express them, the views of this little community often coincide, don't you think?
