I will never think about Milton Berle the same way again.

Yes, I read that last year. Very good. And you get the dirt on all the early casts (recent casts all have to at least pretend to be clean because they are still marketing themselves off the show).
I didn't realize before exactly how hated Chevy Chase was by basically everyone he came in contact with.

I wonder if they changed the oddsmaking on that after the year the bookies were killed by the Rams winning the Super Bowl (was the first year they were good and Vegas took a serious hit on those beginning of the season bets - even offered to pay people out on lower odds if they would take a buyout before the game was played).

The Ravens killed them again a year after that. And I think Phil Mickelson won big on both futures bets (Rams and Ravens). Or maybe it was the Ravens & Angels?

Either way, for his sake, I hope the winnings offset any losses he may have incurred for betting on himself to win a major.

You must not have seen the crappy Friar's Club roast they did of him two years ago. Nothing quite as awkward as a comedy roast in which it's not a schtick and every single occupant of the dais really does loathe the guest of honor.

That was good.
At least we know she's down with Getafix, though. You know. Magic Potion.

I hate him. I remember seeing him on the Johnny carson show when Gallagher was on for the first time. Of course Gallagher is basically a really dumb joke comedian, with the watermelon etc. I mean its not like he was trying to seem intellectual.
So when Gallagher comes to talk to Johnny, chevy talks to him like he a retard. gallagher kept saying things like "Well Chevy, there are lots of kinds of humor" and trying to be polite.
Meanwhile I just wanted Gallagher to say "Chevy you bald fuck you are only famous for doing pratfall impersinations of a guy who ain't president anymore. At least my humor will still be whatever it is when someone else is president."
I bet he was a real asshole to work with. see also Howard Stern phone call.

Especially the part where they recapped how the final two players made it through on the quizzes and how their beliefs as to who the mole was changed over time. This is the first time I've watched the show and it was quite entertaining.
|
The mole had me fooled. But I can never figure out who it is. Ever.
It would actually be a good show if they went back to the clever, intricate games (like they had on season 1). Too bad no one understood the games, much less the point of the show.

Thanks, coach, always glad to see someone supporting all of his former players.

He actually was taken out of context. The direct question he responded to was, "How is she as a player [skill-wise]?"
The problem is, the proper response to a question like this after it came to his attention that she may have been raped is, "I don't think discussing her abilities as a player are relevant to these allegations, which I sincerely hope are not true."
So, he's still up for dumbass of the year.

It didn't bug me that he said she was awful. What bugged me was that he was so illogical about the whole thing. First he said "she's a girl", like that is bad in itself, and then basically "not only is she a girl, she sucks". So if she was a girl, but really good, she'd still be kind of bad because she's a girl?
If the fact that she's a girl is a bad thing because it distracts the players, then he's really insulting his players more than her because it makes them sound like idiots. If the fact that she's a girl is just bad, period, then he's just being an idiot.
The lack of coherence just made him sound really stupid. And didn't she make a good kick for New Mexico or whereever it was she ended up at? So she can't be "awful" if she has that on her resume.

Well, you already said it was a non-collector's item, so I don't think the asterisk was really necessary.

Since we're moving into a new house this year, Mrs. Wonk decided to get rid of a lot of the stuff (read: crap) we had accumulated over the years. She put a lot of the more serviceable or collectible items on eBay. She made a ton of money. Not enough to retire, or push us into a higher tax bracket, but she set it aside for the holidays and it bought a lot of nice gifts.
I'd always kind of thought eBay was for trailer park people and yahoos. Her experience convinced me that it really does serve as a relatively efficient market.

And even better, I'm sure some of the stuff went to the crazy lady in California whose house is merely a repository for boxes, dust and junk!
