No wonder you hate the Jets.

I've been to a few Jets games and the fans are completely insufferable. I have a friend who is a die-hard Dolphins fan and he has given up wearing a jersey when he goes. Fights, beer thrown, threats, insults to his gf (when he brings her). It's unbelievable. It's not like a Red Sox game, where that kind of behavior is ok.*

One time I was sitting 3 rows back, 50 yard line and that idiot fireman was right near me. As far as I can tell, he doesn't have tickets because he sits wherever he likes, if there is an open seat. He is a fanatic. Insane. This woman was sitting right next to us and she had a photo of herself and him (with him in his Jets fireman's hat, standing over her shoulder), with the greyish fake backdrop and the contrived pose that has made Sears so much money over the years. She was quite young and somewhat cute. I asked if I could see the photo. She showed it to me and I squelched a laugh and asked her if he was her dad. She said, "No. He's my boyfriend." I couldn't disguise my shock and disgust. She was used to the reaction.

TM

*That's a joke. Red Sox fans are given plenty of shit, but nothing like the danger the Yankees fan who was wearing a jersey was in at Fenway. Good Lord, those people are fucking crazy.
Dude - you're mocking Fireman Eddie Anzalone???? He's an institution. WTF?

You probably hated bleachers Ali with the cowbell before he passed on.

First off, the signing bonuses are a large share of the actual salary, so they're not so easily dismissed.

Second, what TM is basically arguing for is a redistribution of salary from players who do perform to those that don't. Guaranteed contracts inevitably lead to lots of money for injured players or non-performing players who are either cut or retained and played (look at some baseball rosters for examples of hte latter). That takes money away from the players who play well.

If the union is worried about unfairness, then they should mandate insurance against injury for everyone. But they've decided not to, and instead offer pensions only to people who have played over a certain number of years.

It actually worked out to a 30-minute workout, because you were supposed to jog in place through the commercial breaks. I usually just sat down.

It goes without saying that I thought this post was by Penske until someone quoted it, doesn't it?

Or Juan the Marine. Or Juan the Marine (orginal). They liked poking fun at Canada, too.

Imagine working with this guy.

And this guy's always there. Imagine, I had to leave my umbrella outside for someone to steal and this guy gets in. Actually that's just his shoulder.

And apparently a now deceased Charger fan.

Celebrity Sighting

As I was heading into the park to go running this afternoon, a large entourage was set up. As I got closer to the entrance, I realized they must have been filming one of those cop shows, because at the center of all the action was the guy who used to be Toby's boyfriend on Oz (I think his real name is Chris something). He is hhhhhhhot (it's more meaningful with lots of H's instead of lots of T's).

But very short.

Chris Meloni? He is totally hottttt.

But apparently a rather surly type. My friend's friend used to live in the apartment beside him. He never acknowledged his neighbor, not even waiting for the elevator or anything. Apparently now Miles O'Brien lives in that apartment and he is exceeding friendly. Just fyi.
