This is the kind of person I could not reproduce with. Eighteen years of never taking a night away from the house to get away from it all? I would have to get divorced. If thats what you are up against, I think you need to do the dinner and the theater thing but not the sleepover. Under no circumstancves do you bring those kids to the hotel. The whole point of this is to get away from it all and everybody would think you were a socially inept moron if you brought the kids. I personally would hate you for it if I laid eyes on em. And a room with you, the wife and kids? A W room which is a small room in the Ws I have been too? What a nightmare.

For God's sake Wonk, be a man. Tell the bitch you are putting your manly foot down, and as God directs she must obey you.
That should do the trick, you'll get plenty of evenings off then.

Since today is so boring, I'm just curious: what Lawtalkers settings do you all use? I use Ravio Orange, and I have my page count set to 40.
While I have you, what about toothpaste? Right now, I'm really into Mentadent even though it's overpriced and gimmicky -- it just tastes really good.
And what kind of trash bags do you use? I prefer the handle tie kind. The ones without handles are just too hard to tie up.
Finally, this is not a question: the National Weather service is predicting for most of the North American continent a 33% chance of higher than normal precipitation this winter, a 33% chance of lower than normal, and a 33% chance of normal.
Wake me up when it's time for Happy Hour.

the reality of kids isn't quite as black as the pre-kid thought of them. he could perhaps get a second adjoining room, for extra room. He doesn't need to bring people to his room, so the fact the kids are there could be kept from the others. he could make this work.

Rooms in W Lakeshore are not too small. That said, Wonk should not bring the kids.
Bad Idea jeans commercial just popped into my head. So thank you to all who have perpetuated this thread.

Why don't you just go home, or play a video game or something.

Simple solution: I'll use the room.
IIRC, the W's here have pretty normal (non-NYC) size rooms, as each was a different brand hotel previously...

You saw the new board motto, didn't you?
It was a comment, not a request.

Why are lawyers who dress up their dogs in frilly little dresses and pink crowns so fucking stupid?
I don't date, but I would imagine that the dating pool reflects the stupidity of the general population.

From Salon
Shocking indeed that the Drakes didn't opt to vote out brutally irritating hippie Jon, but at least we've all been granted another week to hate him with impunity. The smug "I'm such a trickster!" grins, the creepy little gestures, the drunken stand-up routine ... He's like that one guy at a Dead show who no one really wants to pass the bowl to.
He looks like patchouli smells. You can almost see him at a party with his guitar, putting one foot up on the coffee table and affecting a scratchy voice for a soulful, conversation-halting rendition of "Tangled Up in Blue," or pulling a mushy grilled-cheese sandwich out of his back pocket and eating it while doing that awful, boneless Deadhead dance to "Fire on the Mountain." Even den mother Probst had trouble hiding his scorn for Jon during tribal council, glaring at him and calling him out for being drunk.

The reviewer isn't talking about Rupert, the big guy with the beard who is the troubled teen counselor. He's talking about the misogynist with curly blond hair who showed up drunk to the last tribal council. This guy:

SPOILER SPACE
Last night Michele, the little student on Drake got voted out after screwing up at the I.C. by refusing to pretend that it was difficult for her to drink a octupus and razor clam smoothie. Idiot.

I watched but missed the last 15 mins and I am confused. Drake lost immunity because one of the women couldn't handle eating a whole sardine in a tie-breaker for the Eat Gross Stuff contest, which was surprisingly mild this time (lotsa shellfish blended up in a blender). But apparently a different girl than the sardine gagger was voted out - Michele, who was strong on the drink gross stuff contest was sent packing. Someone who saw the end will have to explain why.
And barely just did. Perhaps Michelle was wearing Bad Idea jeans during the challenge.

Aren't your kids older? I have the impression that the princess is in her early teens and the boy is at least a kindergartener.
Anyway, it doesn't sound like you have any good options. The fact that the missus is being arguably unreasonable doesn't really mean anything. She feels the way she feels, and you just have to live with it. E/O's suggestion of doing the dinner and show while skipping the hotel is about the best you can do.
