Talk Show Poll

best: Steve Martin - Has done countless sketches/filmed pieces as a guest on Letterman. Also great on Carson back in the day.

worst: lately, Vince Vaughn - Duchovny should have started hanging around Luke Wilson. At least he'd have a career.* You'd think double-down Trent would be a good interview, but the man needs a writer to be smarmy funny - how sad is that?

[QUIBBLE]Chris Isaak and Harry Connick Jr. are great entertainers, though their songs have been rather weak lately. HCJr. shouldn't apologize for his music, he should be arrested for mugging his way through W&G. Unwatchable.

And Richard Lewis (who is not funny now, though he was funny when he was alternating between coke benders, alcoholic sprees, and crippling depression) is responsible for one of the great moments in talk show history. He does the Later show with Bob Costas. He kills so much that NBC doesn't air the episode because the execs think it's silly to have Costas constantly laughing during the 22 minutes. They have Lewis on again as a make-good, but he spends most of his time kvetching about being dropped, so they air clips from the other show so you can understand what they're talking about.[/QUIBBLE]

Oh, and Carson was the best talk show host ever. EVER. Leno went from awkward to fawning. Letterman's went from prickly to soft (with occasional flashes of ire), but Carson was always smooth.

* although Duchovny is a Yalie with a pile of syndication loot from X-Files and a hot wife. Why read lines when you can wake up, shag your hot wife, get some coffee, go for a jog around Malibu, play with your kids, and not deal with agents or lawyers?**

** of course, according to imdb.org he has three films coming out this year.

THis is the definition of a Post Hoc. Next time you go against SD in court, please let me know as I would like to buy front row tickets for that battle of the titans.

Carey may sue.
Can I have the password for his damages?

Paigow has been in court. I have the pictures to prove it:

If you truly want to effectively tribute slash copy YSB (for ncs and the newbies, this is one of the socks that Cornhole and the 6am computer losers who didnt get laid- not slave bc he wasnt around at the time- invented to kill the original board), you should throw something in there about my being overpaid or something. Oh, and make it funny. Though I doubt YSB could be made funny now since he was very much of a sock of his time.

hells angels

Does anyone know anything about the hells angels? Our police are very worried because they will be in the burg the same time as the Phelps clan and they are afraid something could happen.

I can't quite picture the threat - the HA's aren't exactly a progressive group, and they're not likely to take issue with Phelps & Co.

Neither can I, but I guess they are worried they will be supportive of Phelps or at the least violent.

This is so not true. At the time Cornhole and I co-invented YSB, I totally could have gotten laid if I wanted to. I was just too busy with other things.

Is there any reason to think that both groups being in town at the same time is anything more than coincidence? Why are the HA's meeting there anyway?

there will counter-protests, and perhaps they're worried HA's will go after the counter protesters.

I've gotten the sense that they're violent only against each other--that is, rival factions. 10000 of them gather in Sturgis every year, and it's just a chrome-, weed-, and tits-fest.
