I've seen most of VL, but that when I was really, really wasted (really wasted). But what I recall was pretty wild and funny. If the UN made porn in the '70s, but with hot lesbian vampires, this is what it would look like. It was really pretty OK.

Thanks. Now I never much liked I Married an Axe Murderer. I found parts of it funny, but it got kind of boring, one note you know? Same with the one where the mom is running around killing people...serial mom was it?
Evil dead is fucking hilarious however.
I think VL is based on this really old vampire story I've read a few times. There is no sex in the story, or rather if there is, it is alluded too. In that one this young woman shows up on the doorstep of a Lord's castle around a time when people in the village, female mainly, are becoming listless and then dying. She does a lot of hanging out with the Lord's daughter.
On the other hand there was another vampire story in the same collection that had the Lady who supposedly bathed in blood, i forget her name. That had some blatant sex going on, the serving lady kept talking about the "unnatural cries" in the night that should only have happened when the Lady's husband was present.
I love that book, it has all these weird old vampire stories in it. We all know how kinky vampires are.

In my case, it's the washing machine. If they get wrapped around that thingy that agitates the bin, they can get torn. I really need one of those front-loading washers. It's on my list of "shit to buy when I get my bonus". (I'm classy that way.)

I'm hoarse also. I was a few rows behind the visitors bench and I think my personal taunts to Venatieri helped keep us in the game. Unfortunately, my voice was gone by the final minute of overtime. We lost the game for lack of a lozenge. I accept full responsibility.

NOt to worry, RP. It's a good thing I was with you bc I just got my pics back. That was a fun tailgte party huh? Imagine they let a couple of old spinsters such as ourselves in. They must have already put their beer goggles on! Look at the sweet igloo hookup they had, and they got the good stuff too. Cups for everyone! We didn't even have to kick in five bucks for the keg. Generous! Must be all that rent money they save by living together and renting sequels instead of going out to the theater.
Wow! Look at Coltrane's roomie with the beerball. Hey guy, save some for us!
But here is my favorite. A really sweet shot of Coltrane and his roomie. Look how the big lug has his paw over little Coltie's shoulder. Hey man, give me a hug! LOL!!! And look how happy Coltrane looks. This is just after his roomie told him he sold the 52 incher on ebay so the two of them could go to Hef's playboy party. No spinsters allowed!!! Who needs an invite when you can just hock the really big tube and buy one for you and your best buddy? ROADTRIP!!!!! Just the guys!

Never saw serial mom. But IMaAM was funny, to me, largely because of the Scottish jokes. Just as Sandler films are made worthwhile to me entirely by their random bits of sublime surrealism, IMaAM was worthwhile because hearing "If you want my body/and you think I'm sexy" played on bagpipes was a revelation.

But of course.

sounds a lot like le Fanu's Carmilla. Did they find her body in her tomb floating in blood?

Probably Elizabeth (or local variant) Bathory. Interesting story. Transylvanian countess. She was a pretty cunning politician, too. Lots of fun stories about her, anyhow. Still not clear whether she really killed the girls or if she was framed for political reasons, but it seems likely. In any event, she was walled alive into a wall of her castle, but kept alive for several years by faithful servants bringing her scraps.

Yeah, they lend themselves well to anthologies and the like.

For the record, I never loved Elvis.

I don't really get it either, but I've never fully understood celebrity worship in general. I mean, some people around the world apparently thought that there was nothing more important to do other than protest Michael Jackson's arrest.

I think I might visit Graceland for the comedy, as Shape Shifter seems to have.

In addition to being high camp, Graceland is a study in Americana. Although I wouldn't take it as seriously as U2 did in Rattle and Hum.

I would like to visit the Playboy Mansion for one of Hef's parties before I die. That can be number 1 on my list, domestic or international.

Let's do it.

That's it exactly.

Yeah, it was Bathory. The story was interesting, it had her as this innocent soul who married a man who at first seemed good and Christian. He goes off to war and a Gypsy woman happens to appear, and Liz invites her to move in. Liz is so naive she is unaware that two women can have sex and that is what she was doing in hubbie's absence. She figures since she already degraded herself so much that she might as well get into the torturing. Eventually she releases one of the prisoners and sends her maid off with a confession. Everyone else is put to death and she is walled up.

I was thinking of you, RT, when we got a little bonus coverage of the Pats/Tex's in OT. After the first play of overtime, I turned to the folks with whom I was watching the game and said "I'll bet there's a very high correlation between intercepting passes in overtime and winning the game." Someone should look into that. It's probably not quite as high a correlation as blocking a punt in overtime . . .

My sister and I wanted to put together a road trip of all the cheesy destination places to go in the US. Stuff like Natural Bridge Caverns, Vegas, Aquamarina Springs (too bad Ralph the Diving Pig died), etc.

Don't forget "South of the Border", which is in the northern part of South Carolina.
Frank Deford wrote a great essay about attractions like these, called "The Tacky Triangle."

A quasi-related question: How often is it the kicker's fault when a FG is blocked? I would imagine it has more to do with the blocking, etc.

I think I went to college with these guys. I think I just saw them at Homecoming about 3 weeks ago. I think we have all aged badly, but some of us worse than others.
