It's much nicer to think of it this way:

If you take a shit band like Starship and add the vocal stylings of Marty Balin AND the enormous talents of Hot Tuna [Jorma Kaukonen, perhaps my favorite guitarist, and Jack Casady], you can get a decent band like Jefferson Airplane.

If I ever move back to SF, I'd hate to learn that I'd been branded with the mark of Cain for my years down here.

For the life of me I can't see why you would want to limit yourself to non-overseas destinations, as, frankly, I don't find many domestic destinations all that interesting.

But you can have fun (of the kind I think you would like) in Jamaica. Negril is good, but I wouldn't venture off the beach.

If I had to name all time favorites, i would be rather predictable:

1. Paris. 'Nough said.

2. London and surrounding area. Anything you could want other than beach.

3. Algarve, Portugal. Beach. Nice beach. And cheap.

4. Southern Italy/Sicily. Nice people. Nice food. Nice sights. Beach if you want it.

5. Prague/Czech Republic. Mid-ages Europe, reasonable prices.

1. Banff - I recall that you do not know how to pronounce this word, but anyway... Very scenic - beautiful place.

2. Montreal - lots of fun and many laid back people. A good place to drink a lot. Old Montreal is quite pretty. If you make any attempt to speak French you will be loved. Quebec City is also very nice. Stay at the Chateau Frontenac. Old Quebec is very charming.

4. Newfoundland. Crazy fucked up unemployed people who like to drink a lot of something called screech. Very bizarre place and lots of fun. Not a place many people vacation there, but it is interesting.

5. Nova Scotia. Very beautiful and fun if you are into hiking, canoeing kayaking etc.

Ooooh, this is almost my list. Except I haven't been to Vancouver and would add Tremblant (in any season, summers there are really great) to the list. I like Cape Breton in Nova Scotia more than the rest of it. Another great Canadian vacation spot is the Magdalene Islands in the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

I don't mind SF but I hate the transplant idiot mentality... I dig LA. Don't know why - I just really like the place.
