Moved to big board.

Here

(The post below referred to this post. I've quoted it over at the big board as well.)

It would seem, according to these posts that someone deleted some posts about Carr & Ferrell LLP. The last post informs them that dammit they aren't going to take it any more and they are going to create a new board where there is no censorship.

Apparently we should advertise more.

Regardless, if our friends should need a place they are, of course, welcome here. And to do them a favor, I will summarize the gist of the posts over on the SF Board. Not that I am suggesting that the present posts which I number above will disappear. But you know, just in case there is some sort of technological glitch or something.
in other news of law firm/greddy boards conflicts.......Gina T., the CEO of the Michigan H&H firm has stepped down. Gina was "credited" with threatening Yahoo with suit after a post on the old-old boards that listed confidential H&H info. Yahoo immediately killed at least the Detroit board, if not all of its boards. Once new boards popped up, Gina was the subject of many hateful posts.

Ultimately, her administration is seen as a failure by those still at thew firm.

The distinction Congress made, however, is in the general grant of authority to the FTC, which does not extend to non-profit institutions. If such a grant itself can create a content-based restriction, doesn't that make it nearly impossible for any agency with limited jurisdiction (as they nearly all are) unable to regulate speech in any way?

One good thing about the Denver ruling: presumably to reach the constitutional issue, he had to conclude that the FTC did have the authority to promulgate the regulations.

It occurs to me I really should have posted my original message (which now reads moved to big board) on the big board, so I moved it there.

I'd like to reroute this discussion there so we don't take over the Fashionistas board with it.

So I'll quote your post BOL over there as well if that is ok.

Funniest Line on Friends (that the lame posters havent beaten to death)/ Fashion Dont

In context, that's a strong competitor for funniest line uttered on television, period. I think it was preceded by "If I can't find a dress to wear for Col. Butler, it'll be curtains," or maybe I'm conflating it with an older joke. My nominations for funniest line on television ever would be:

"Don't blame me; I voted for Kodos."

"I'm the luckiest man on the face of the Earth, now that Lou Gehrig is dead."

As much as I hate to do it, I'll give runner-up status to "Monica: 'Hey, the camera adds ten pounds!' / Chandler: 'How many cameras are on you?'" And at that moment, "Friends" stopped being funny.
My favorite Friends line that I remember right now is when they were doing that game about how well they know each other and the question was "What is Monica's biggest pet peeve?" "Animals dressed like humans". Also "what is the name on Chandler's TV Guide adress?(or whatever)" "Miss Candlelera (or whatever) Bong".

this show was definitely quite funny for a long time.

Fashion Don't.

Old Rule that obviously needs to be dusted off. If you have really thick bangs (a hairstyle dont in the first place), do not, and I repeat do not, wear a ponytail. espeicall a mid to high ponytail. I saw a bleach job on the subway doing this. It can aslo be seen by the gal who is apparently a lesbian on "K Street". Maybe this form of hairstyle victim is unitque to DC, but I bet its big in Decatur.

Funniest Line on Television

It was something about a fire in his living room, perhaps at Christmas, and he just kept following up with more jokes about it. The punchline of the last one was, "So we had to set a backfire on the cat." In context, it totally killed, and is my nominee.

Out of context, not so much. Flipping channels a few years later, I came upon the middle of the routine, and was entirely unimpressed by the thing about the cat. So I guess you had to be there.
The two stand up lines I always remember that are so funny and probalby wont be when I post them are:

1. some woman comedian, whose name I do not knwo, but had kind of a weird high pitched voice. "It is such a pain in the ass being a single woman. Even if you are just running down the street to the store (paraphraase here) you have to spend a half hour doijng your hair and your make up and finding something to wear that is flattering but has to appear effortless. Because you never know when you will meet Mr. You Might Do. "

2) the other one is Chris Rock's thing about AIDS testing and the Ghost of Pussy Past.

That's an old joke that Friends should hardly be allowed to take credit for.

But here's my submission.

Seinfeld to Kramer: "Ya kept making the stops?"

Holy crap! Robert Palmer R.I.P.

I hated that misogynist tool video but loved that song.

What is it with youngish male celebrities in their fifties and sudden heart problems?

Wow. Last weekend I busted out one of my alltime favorite CDs "sneaking sally down the alley" and was going to post about how grat it is and maybe do a forgotten great CD poll (but I forgot to post and I dont want to read a bunch of TM and EO stuff about old skool rap). I dont know what the misogynistic tool video is, but the guy was extrememely clever.

Usually you kjow your musicians arent long for the world (Jerry., Warren, George) so when something like this happens, its prtty shocking.

Misogynist? Come on... The guy had a few models play guitar behind him in rather conservative outfits. I don't know how anyone could hate that guy. I saw him interviewed years ago and he seemed pretty down to earth and shockingly normal for a rock star.

S(All that said, he will probably still go to purgatory for having sung that awful version of "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On")D

Editted to say I once again replied before really reading the post and now realize that PJ was actually saying she hated the VIDEO, and NOT RP. I really think the Knob Creek is beginning to rot my brain...
