No, "fucktard" captures it quite nicely, thank you. Regards!

True, but I have some sense of self-preservation. Also, courses are so backed up here that going back in a non-tournament situation just creates havoc.

I think the USGA considers proposals from time to time to make hitting OB the same as a lateral hazard--as it would save a lot of time/trouble for us poor muni golfers. I'm all for it, esp. since I get the distance. It probably should be that way for recreational non-tournament golf--and I bet a majority of rec. players adhere to this "rule" anyway. Golf timmies, don't get all upset at me and say how I'm ruining the game. I don't have time for a 6 hour round of watching Retired Jim and his buddies hit OB, spend 5 minutes looking for the ball, go back to the tee, hit OB again, etc. etc.. every goddamn hole.

The metal on metal sound started immediately after I was pulled out of my driveway last night, and I drove it immediately to the dealership this morning, so there may not have been much damage to the rotors.

Of course, I was planning on driving out of town as soon as I bugged out of work today. Here's hoping I can still do that.

Should I present the bill to the contractors who made it impossible for me to back out of my driveway without getting stuck?
Damage: $369. rotors replaced.

Fun with econ: I happen to know Burger would gladly pay a maximum of $100K to stop me from cutting off his nutsack. Trust me, when I make a move for his crotch, he will mentally budget the money. Call it "insurance." However, I will gladly forego the nut-cutting for a mere $1K --- this time. That's $99K in found money. ACL's on Burger!

Why the Mets suck ass

Mets trade for Benson, Zambrano

The Mets bolstered their starting rotation by acquiring Victor Zambrano and Kris Benson in separate deals today.

The Mets sent third baseman Ty Wigginton to the Pirates as part of a three-way deal that also includes Kansas City. The Mets sent pitcher Scott Kazmir and another minor leaguer to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays for Zambrano and a minor league pitcher.

How about this for a proposal -- don't hit it OB.
Or this: No more OB. (Though you'd still then have the "lost ball" problem.) There are 2 adjacent courses in Griffith Park, and if you're playing one course, hitting it onto the other course is usually OB. The holes intertwine with each other - it's not like there's a fence between them. So in some cases, barely missing the fairway is OB. Sucks my ass.

I love your first proposal. It is similar to my other proposal, which is never miss a 3 foot putt. I have about the same amount of success with each over a round.

I hear you on the crossing fairways thing--though it goes both ways; I always check the scorecard for local rules, sometimes you find that the best play on a hole is to take a shortcut through another fairway, if the local rules say it's not OB. Does that violate any other Rule of Golf? Hell if I know.

Part of Longview is dry and part of it isn't. If the gas stations in the area have neon beer signs in the windows, it is not a dry area. Coincidentally, I turned 19 in Longview when the legal age to drink in Texas was 19, and I turned 21 in Longview when the legal age to drink in Texas had been bumped up to 21. I observed both birthdays drinking quarts of draft beer through out of waxed paper cartons on the front porch of the same drive-through beer shack with a co-worker named Budger. Good times.

Some people never learn

It turns out that being married to Lisa Marie Presley makes you crazy. Either that, or Lisa Marie has really really bad taste in husbands.

LOS ANGELES - Oscar-winning actor Nicolas Cage has married for the third time. It is the third wedding for Cage, 40, who split with his previous wife Lisa Marie Presley after less than four months in 2002. Before that, he was married for six years to actress Patricia Arquette.

The “Leaving Las Vegas” star wed 20-year-old Alice Kim on Friday at a private ceremony on a ranch in Northern California. Kim, a former sushi waitress, met Cage when the actor visited the Los Angeles restaurant where she worked. This is her first marriage.

Duh. She's 20. I hope it's her first marriage. We should have a marriage pool in addition to the death pool cuz no way this one makes it to the end of the year. Maybe he and JLo can get a group discount on the divorces.
