"Nazis" -- what do I win?
- By the middle of June, when his military advisers were declaiming that Russia would be beaten in no time and when someone spoke of Russia as a "big bubble," Hitler suddenly became thoughtful and said that Russia was rather like the ship in Wagner's Flying Dutchman. "The beginning of every war is like opening a door into a dark room. One never knows what is hidden in the darkness."
John Lukacs, The Last European War: September 1939 - December 1941 137 (Yale University Press 1976).

But Russia (or, well, at that point, the Soviet Union, but who's being picky?) had 10 or 20 million bodies to use as cannon fodder. Dunno. Usually on your side, but it seems totally different.

True, almost 50% of the voting population voted for Kerry. And Gore......don't even get me started.

I love the Flying Dutchman. I'm going to pop that on at home tonight. Thanks.

True, and yet note that Hitler said that at the outset of the war, before things turned wrong. "Every" war, he said.
Too bad it's Hitler -- otherwise, kind of a cool quote.

You think Gore pulled the lever for Kerry too?

I think he probably wrote himself in.

Maybe he is in rehab with Mel Gibson?
From the Nat'l Rev Online:
In Communist societies, the fall of a dictator is often marked by a public statement about the dictator’s failing health that (a) doesn’t make sense, and (b) is not delivered by the dictator himself. That’s what we saw on Monday night, when Cuban dictator Fidel Castro issued a “letter to the people” in which he explains that he had suffered intestinal bleeding due to stress, needed an operation, and would be in bed for several weeks. The missive was coldly Orwellian in how little it said about Castro — and in how much detail it gave about those who were now “temporarily” assuming power.
The next day another Cuban official read a more entertaining letter in which Castro purports to explain (again in pure Newspeak) that because of the imminent threat from the United States, the details of his health are now a state secret. But there’s only one detail about Castro’s health that could possibly be a state secret: that he’s dead.
Pray it is so! For Elian's sake.

This is going to be great -- Spanky is going be all over Penske's ass for suggesting that "evidence" is mounting here. Just watch.

More evidence of the truthfulness of assertions. Thank G-d Israel is taking its mission to destroy these devilish terrorists seriously and not being swayed by the nattering nabobs of negativity of the liberal western media or their allies in the UN or Western Europe.
