LOS ANGELES - Oscar-winning actor Nicolas Cage has married for the third time. It is the third wedding for Cage, 40, who split with his previous wife Lisa Marie Presley after less than four months in 2002. Before that, he was married for six years to actress Patricia Arquette.
The “Leaving Las Vegas” star wed 20-year-old Alice Kim on Friday at a private ceremony on a ranch in Northern California. Kim, a former sushi waitress, met Cage when the actor visited the Los Angeles restaurant where she worked. This is her first marriage.
Duh. She's 20. I hope it's her first marriage. We should have a marriage pool in addition to the death pool cuz no way this one makes it to the end of the year. Maybe he and JLo can get a group discount on the divorces.

Does Nick Cage still have a pet Komodo dragon? 'Cause I imagine having a six-foot lizard crawling into bed with you could affect any relationship.
In any event, I got three words of advice for Nick Cage: Pre. Nuptial. Agreement.

1) Not as far as I could tell. There's a ballon festival there every year that's supposed to be pretty cool, but it'd be a real coincidence if you happened to be there at the right time. I'd head for the kicker bars and try to convince a local to show you a little Texas hospitality.
ETA: because I'm bored, I Googled, and came up with the additional information that the airport code is GGG and the following web site:
Longview, Texas . . . Worth a Visit

You have to fly crappy american Eagle to get to shreveport as well. the flights to both cities are about the same.
The balloon festival is the weekend after 4th of July. You've missed it this year.
The other thing to do in Longview, is drive 20 minutes to Kilgore and go to the East Texas Oil Museum. http://www.easttexasoilmuseum.com/Pages/inside.html
Nice little museum. Kilgore is also home of the Kilgore Rangerettes. http://www.rangerette.com/
And yes East Texas is full of pine trees.

Texas Question
The Rangerettes have 2 dozen odd freshman and 2 dozen odd sophmores. All the Freshman have a middle name, "kimmie Lee Jones," while only 2 sophmores do. This can't be a co-incidence.
Q. 1 ncs. is dropping the middle name a sign of rebellion for East texas dance team girls?
Q. 2 do black people go to Kilgore College?

The thing I remember the most about Kilgore College was the brouhaha that followed when the drama department tried to stage Angels in America.

Looks like you'll be able to watch the Amish show now. From realityblurred:
Quote:
A Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, UPN affiliate decided not to air Amish in the City last Wednesday. The station, WLYH-TV, "decided not to air the first episode without seeing it first," according to the York Daily Record. After viewing the episode, though, the station's general manager aired the episode Friday night. "It didn't go over the top, and it was a little bit informative. I think by not airing it, we lean toward censorship," Matt Uhl said. The Lancaster New Era reports that he "invited several local educators and media representatives to a screening Thursday morning"; a reporter who attended said, "We should give them the same option to make idiots of themselves as Paris Hilton."

Texas Question
I didn't read the entire article so I don't know if this was mentioned, but the play was performed in the Van Cliburn Auditorium. Sweet, sweet irony.

My favorite quote from the article is this gem: Otwell also disagreed with a counterprotester who carried a sign claiming, "God Doesn't Hate." Said the pastor: "God does hate. God wouldn't create hell if he didn't hate." Though "What comes to my mind when I think of Shakespeare are folks with some spears" runs a close second.

I thought Sharon Stone had the Komodo dragon? Or did she just get it to bite her ex?
Hey Ann - take your ex to the zoo, arrange for him to get an up-close with the Komodo I hear it's good for a few laughs. And will you miss ever hearing Noooomaaaaah again?
Other news from Florida - maybe it's just me, but that bridge didn't look very safe to begin with.

We can dance if we want to
I had the pleasure of going to a dance hall in central Texas this weekend. The band was rocking, the beer was flowing, and pretty much everyone in the place hit the dance floor. The place was an 18 and up establishment, and I think that pretty much every age group capable of dancing from 18 and up was there. The septuagenarians on the dance floor were deceptively spry and looked like they could dance in their sleep if they wanted to. Some of the couples that couldn't find sitters brought their small kids along, and danced with the kids in their arms. (No rants about inappropriate places to bring kids, from what I could tell, it was totally appropriate in this setting to bring toddlers and infants.)
My two-stepping skills leave a lot to be desired, but when my friend dragged me out onto the floor, I didn't completely embarrass myself, though I didn't try anything fancy. Step step stepstepstep was pretty much all I could concentrate on.
My dad showed me how to waltz and box step and salsa when I was a kid. We took some dance lessons in PE classes in Junior High, and the rest has sort of been picked up at various points along the way. I'm probably most comfortable dancing to latin music, though I was pleasantly surprised to find country and western not totally a loss to me.
POLL QUESTION: Do you dance? If so where and how did you learn? If not, why not and would you if you learned how?
