Do radio stations still advertise themselves as "classic rock"? If so, are they updating their play lists? Each year, another year's worth of "classics" hit the airwaves. Or is it still Stairway to Heaven and Freebird?

translation: I am too cool to listen to the radio.
Another troubling development is that "alternative" is now far more popular than standard rock. Think about it.

Translation: Don't you talk about Zeppelin that way, dude!
Seriously, if 70s rock was classic rock in '85, why can't Nirvana be classic rock now? Or maybe it is. I listen to the radio, just not classic rock stations.

because Nirvana was "alternative". something cannot be alternative one day and classic the next. it's the same conflict I see you struggling with as you become old skool here.
alternative answer- because "classic rock listener" means "if someone offered ludes right now I'd eat them." It's a mindset not a temporal thing.

Cuz it fucks with the space/time continuum.
Alternatively, because "Classic Rock" is what happened when someone from a previous generation was asked "why isn't Stairway to Heaven considered an Oldie?" I suspect the next version of same will have the word "vintage" in it. "That was REM's "Radio Free Europe," right here on Sirrus 208173 Vintage Indy Rock. Coming up: Alice In Chains' 'Rooster'!"

Why can't someone just give me a straight fucking answer instead of all this "Here is why, or alternatively, here is why" bullshit?

My dad sang "Oh my darling Clementine" to me, but replaced Clementine w/ my first name/last name sort of run together, which, if you don't over-analyze it, vaguely rhymes with Clementine.
My husband sang the Bonanza theme to our kids as infants (their respective names inserted, natch). Yes, I know if has no lyrics.

if people like you keep asking these "why is the world ran this way questions" right out in public like this, and they're questions people like me can't answer, pretty soon Thurgreed is going see the average white man doesn't run the world.
Then Spanky has won. Can you see how you need to drop this now?

What makes you think I'm white? And I thought you were of some swarthy ethnicity.

The Fugee Brother and I sang "Oh my darling..." to our little sister, replacing Clementine with an insulting name for her that never failed to drive her to tears. Eventually we didn't have to sing it, mere humming could also accomplish our goal of sibling torture.
We were horrible horrible children in our persistent torment of the Fugee Sister. It's a miracle my sister isn't a serial killer.

if you're saying we can just change who we are, cool.
I'm now a really hot red haired chick with 42 DD boobies. I'm very sexually agressive. Plus I have a PhD in Physics. Plus I'm on probation because I was teaching high school and blew 3 of my boy students- it was unsolicited.
