You keep lumping in Libertarians with Conservatives. You really should stop that.

Actually, given where he was from, I've been assuming he was a Dem.
But then, I don't get out much.

He was the governor and attorney general of that state before he was a congressman. With apologies to Tom Daschle, he's been the most prominent politician in the state for a few decades.

And you can check, but I don't think Josh has blogged about that trial at all.
edited to say, check for yourself if you don't believe me, but you'll find more coverage here.

I'm torn. As a republican, I of course applaud Amtrak for taking care of the first class passengers. I doubt, however, the first class ticket alone would have gotten the extra train.
FYI- when travelling by train do not purchase first class tickets. First class is were the injuries are when the train derails.

The "channelling Josh" line had to do with "Bilmore's complaining about this crim charge, it must be because Janklow's a Repub."

the stock market broke 10K this am

this occured even though there was a bad car bombing in Iraq, and a pretty bad terrorist attack in the Soviet Union.

Heh (hi leagl!) or perhaps we can sub in "because" for "even though."
Note, I don't actually have a developed theory on this, but it seems like sometimes things that are "bad" news can cause stocks to rise.

Perhaps you are right. The stock market has survived the tech bubble, and is now strongly back on track, only because Bush is screwing up the terrorism stuff.
I alert Tyrone to the party line, you let GGG and Sammy know.
I was going to say the market only went up because several investors had become discouraged and had left the market, but the theory is still inchoate; let's go with your's.

Kudos for bringing partisan crap into a totally unrelated issue. Way to go. Rah, rah.*
*In other words, that was totally not my point. It was broad, equal-opportunity cynicism.

The increased use of explosives has exacerbated global warming. Global warming has boosted sales of refrigeration equipment, ice cream, and airplane tickets to more temperate climes such as Kyoto, Japan. With the addition of more freon engineers, cow milkers, and dyslexic travel agents to the economy, it was only a matter of time till we hit 10,000.

I was just looking for a way to say "in the Soviet Union."
Admittedly for partisan reasons.

Where do the discouraged investors go? How are they able to eat if they are not investing?
