At that moment, early in the weekend, it was a thinly veiled plea for help to save us from ourselves.

Help never arrived.

Where does a 300 pound gorilla sit?

Apparently, at the bus stop. I'm sorry - but even with the injuries to innocent people, this is funny. How flimsy are the cages in Boston?

BOSTON, Sept. 28 — A restless gorilla broke out of its zoo enclosure Sunday, injuring a 2-year-old and a teenager before it was sedated and recaptured almost two hours later, according to zoo officials.
THE GORILLA ESCAPED from the Franklin Park Zoo minutes before the zoo was scheduled to close, according to Zoo New England CEO and President John Linehan.
The 5-foot, 300-pound adolescent gorilla escaped from its section of the Tropical Forest exhibit in August, but did not leave the exhibit grounds.
The gorilla injured the young girl and an 18-year-old woman almost immediately after escaping, Linehan said. A witness told police she later saw the gorilla sitting at a bus stop on a street near the zoo.

Edited to add... Zoo officials installed electrified wires to keep the 11-year-old primate from escaping again, but on Sunday he managed to leave the zoo grounds entirely.
“Needless to say, until further notice, he is not going to be on exhibit,” Linehan said.

Some really amusing shit from the 70s

If someone could link me to an onilne version of the Happy Hooker (which I am rereading sllowly but surelY), There is a great riff on what men of different ethnicities are always like. My favorites were the "American Jew" , the greeks and the "Oriental men" Apparently the greeks gave us greek style, which is anal btw bc this way the girls could stay virgins, so all the greek customers wanted anal. the oriental men all have tiny weiners and some even have fake penises(!) which is described in a way I cant begin to reenact.

And I tried to be interesting, with the vibrator, bisexual talk, so dont blame me.

Beyond logic courses, I never took any exams in philosophy. You are graded on class participation and papers. Subjective, yes, but as with lawyers, the bullshitters stand out to even a mildly discerning mind.

That Dario guy is one lucky eurotrash race car driver.

Sigh. Sometimes I don't regret that Mrs. NB is addicted to this magazine...

Resolved: Ashley Judd will be remembered in an Elizabeth-Taylor-Greatest-Beauty-of-Her-Generation kind of way.

IMDB says she's dated Bob De Niro, Matthew McConaughey, and Michael Bolton. I can't quite wrap my brain around that.

New perfume

since we appear to be having a boring day...

I got this new perfume that smells like cake. It was a tossup between it and the one that smelled like orange juice. I figured it would make me happy since I love the smell of cake. It is working because I just licked my wrist without realizing what I was doing. Now I am not sure about how happy it is making me because I am full but still craving cake.

Demeter and Smell This also have "Sugar Cookie" and "Cake Batter" (Smell This makes edible sprays, too). They are particularly delightful on a cold blustery day.

Demeter also has "grass" and "dirt", which are great for spring. They used to have Martini (gross) and Bourbon (yummy) as well.

Caught a great South Park on TiVo last week; Cartman enters a contest to sing the "Cheesy Poofs" jingle, and in his audition, adds a little flourish to the last line "You'd be lame" -- "We're talking 5th season of 'Night Court' lameeeeeeeeee." Hilarious.

Just out of curiousity, is it Hanae Mori?

I fell in love with the Hanae Mori last year when I tired of my Issey Miyake and Marc Jacobs.

When my mother visited this summer, we discovered we were both wearing it.

I cannot wait to date a girl confident enough to wear Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. Or perhaps Ham.
