If by kool aid you mean money, I've had that taste. I lucked into a big one a few years back from the plaintiff's side. I understand the addictive "casino" aspect of it.
If you mean that silly nonsense about being Clarence Darrow or agents of social change and righteous crusaders against Evil Business, Inc., that is just a fiction for the public, isn't it? I mean, (in Rob Cordrry voice) "commmmme onnnnn...." Nobody actually believes that shiite.

You say everybody deserves a few arrests -- do you mean everybody who's been arrested and/or on their way to trial deserves good, affordable counsel, or are you suggesting something different? And I assume your distaste for "zero tolerance" attitudes is reserved for crimes like drug possession and getting in drunken fights in bars and you don't mind a "zero tolerance" approach to crimes like raping children, right?
And what about crimes involving innocent young puppies?

Alas, they do. And the opposite ("tort reform" anyone?) as well.
True, some of those who mouth the platitudes are snickering up their sleeves, but not all of them are. (Again, on both sides.)

I try and delegate or run from any patent defense work. I love representing Plaintiff, although usually not contingency. and bob, the fun of P-work is coming up with a vision of the case the defendant wouldn't possibly agree with. but I would agree to an extension.

With the exception of violent crime involving humans or animals, everybody deserves one or two "do-overs." Bernie Ebbers deserves five years - not 25. His was a clearly political and very "zero tolerance" minded sentence. Did he not deserve a downward departure for all the money he made for people in WorldCom's run up? Why wasn't that cash netted against the amount on which his sentence was based? Seems equitable, no? I lost money because of people like Bernie, but I knew those investments were risky. I could bark about how Gary Winnick should go to jail, but in the end, I have no one to blame but myself.
Whatever happened to assumption of risk?

Some folks need goofy things to "believe in." I believe in God. I believe my wife loves me. I believe I'll have another.
I believe this is business. If ditch digging paid as well, ditch digging I would do. I felt awful seeing criminals sentenced, but civil litigants? They're investments, nothing more, nothing less.

spray tan antics
I was getting a spray-on tan and everything was going fine when the girl spraying me said absently "oh, so you're not a natural redhead?" It just struck me as amusing because even though I'm standing there naked, usually in these situations no one *ever* acknowledges that fact. So then we made out and I got brown spray-on goo all over her.

I read this was trying to figure out whether Terrell Owens supports tort reform or not.
Reading comprehension is apparently out for 2006.

You don't really believe "everybody" who commits a non-violent crime deserves one or two do-overs. Imagine the free-for-all if everyone was allowed, once in their life, to scott-free confiscate the contents of someone else's home or bank account. And credit card scams, or con artists of the elderly? No problem - as long as the scammers do it just once (or twice).
As for your man, Ebbers, that's an easy out, as he epitomized the "Aw Shucks" defense. But did you know he used to make fun of short people? And $10 bucks he didn't like newborn puppies either.

The drapes don't always match the curtains. I dated a blonde (um...guy) for 5 years and it took me 4 of them to get used to the fact that he had red pubes** and leg hair, while everything else was blonde (including the eyebrows).
**Helping me accept the reds was the huge, perfectly formed gigantor sticking out of them.
