I have friends who went the turkey bastard route; they asked for (and for all we know now, got) Jewish sperm. If they hadn’t, they’d have a hell of a time proving damages. If we want to incentivize sperm banks against slap-dash inventory control, maybe we should just declare a nominal price on “the wrong sperm” via statute. Getting sperm other than the stuff you paid for is, I suppose, an injury of some kind, but we should not ever countenance a lawsuit in which experts will testify that Healthy Kid A is worth more to a family than Healthy Kid B. Who wants to read a transcript in which dear old mom testifies that you suck and the family lost money on you? That type of thing should happen on Thanksgiving behind closed doors, if ever.

I disagree completely. There shouldn't be a remedy, because there is no injury. Are you actually saying that you accept the notion that a life can be "wrong" ab initio?

I only want to comment on this part:

These statements drive me crazy. Both male and female actors say these things all of the time, and it is such bullshit. If you don't like being famous, then stop acting. Move out of LA. Go do something else. She has enough money to buy a ranch in Montana and leave it all forever. Unless you are a child actor (who did not make the conscious decision to go into acting), you made a choice to be an actor with full knowledge that (a) the paparazzi will stalk the fuck out of you, (b) you will never have any privacy, (c) any mistake you make will be put under a microscope, and, inter alia, (d) people are going to judge you solely on your looks. Is it right? Is it fair? I don't know, but she knew exactly what she was getting herself into. As Hyman Roth told Michael Corleone, "this is the business we have chosen." She's lying to herself - by choosing to continue acting, she clearly believes that it IS worth it. And if you truly love acting and don't care about fame or money, then go to the stage.

One clarification just so no one jumps down my throat - the fact that her naked pictures were leaked really has nothing to do with my post. I'm referring to her comments about dieting and being stalked by the paparazzi and comments in general by actors making similar complaints.

Me? How the fuck did I get dragged into this one? Her friends looked at the pictures, her family did. In a world where Kate Upton is asked in a mainstream interview why she doesn't pose nude, it is a little weird for anyone to be surprised that people looked at the pictures.
