Does anyone watch the draft, beyond maybe the first pick? I know the cliche "like watching paint dry" is overused, but its use to describe the draft is quite accurate. It is simply inexcusable that the first team to pick gets more than 1 minute to make their selection, and the next 5 teams should get no more than 3 minutes each. It is incomprehensible to me how they do not know, for the first few picks, exactly whom they are going to pick, and what the backup plan is.

At the risk of introducing transaction costs in a conversation with an antitrust lawyer, they have to have time to make trades.

Easy. Give them 5 minutes, with a five minute extension should they make a trade. And the second and third teams still don't have much of an excuse. They have plan A, B, and C. That's it. If Plan C is to execute a trade with another team, they can have that in the bag beforehand. And most of them do--they don't call all the other teams only after they're on the clock.

I watch the first round pretty closely, then just turn it on occasionally or keep it on in the background after that. Always worth watching for the reactions of the Jets fans in the auditorium when their team picks... Most of the time they start a near-riot booing the pick.

Indeed, but how much more enjoyable would it be to watch when chaos ensues and other teams are running their picks up to the podium to beat the slowpokes? I might watch the first round if it took an hour. As it is, the first hour gets you the top four, if you're lucky.

Hell, even the commish ducks out after the first round and lets a flunky take over. I'm guessing my buddy in the league counsel's office may get to conduct the 7th round this year.

This is a very sneaky and creative ad campaign by MINI, I think it has been discussed and debunked at slashdot.org a few months ago. Still really cool though. I like the video (CGI) of the robot stopping a car.

I plan to watch AI until John Stevens and George Huff are voted off. Then I will eat some tomato-basil soup while doing my taxes while splayed out on a desplooged ultrasuede chaise
