Soundtrack Poll
TM Diva 6:30
I've already surpassed my day's posting quota, but what the hell. Remember, just like with Bilmore, this is soundtrack, not greatest hits.
Le Freak, Chic
Runnin' with the Devil, Van Halen
Boy from New York City, Manhattan Transfer
Buffalo Soldier, Bob Marley
Together Wherever We Go, The Hi-Los
Almost Blue, Elvis Costello
You Spin me Round, ??
Warum Ist das Licht Gegeben, Hugo Distler
I Need a Miracle Every Day, Grateful Dead
It Was Just One of those Things, Cole Porter as performed by Ella Fitzgerald
Fast Car, whatserbucket
You Shook Me, Led Zeppelin
Every Time We Say Goodbye, Cole Porter
All I Want, Joni Mitchell
No One Is Alone, Stephen Sondheim
Lock, Stock & Teardrops, kd lang
Friday I'm in Love, Cure
On Your Shore, Enya
Birdhouse in Your Soul, They Might Be Giants
Superman, Laurie Anderson
anything from Violator, Depeche Mode
I Touch Myself, the Divinyls
My Life, Iris DeMent
Ford Econoline, Nanci Griffith
Them Bones, Alice in Chains
Welcome to the Jungle, Guns n Roses
Somewhere, Leonard Bernstein
There is Nothing Like a Dame, Rodgers & Hammerstein
Messiah, Handel (this has no place in the chronology--it comes every year at Christmastime for the last 25 years)
Peel Me a Grape, Dave Frischberg
Do Not Utter a Word, from Vanessa by Samuel Barber, Leontyne Price
You Can Always Count on Me from City of Angels
Suddenly Seymour from Little Shop of Horrors
Blame Canada from Southpark: Bigger, Longer & Uncut
All the Things you Are, Rodgers & Hart
This is just scratching the surface--I just live a musical life, I guess.

Well, he's only 3, so not really susceptible to peer pressure yet. And why should it be a girl's costume just because it has pink on it? It's not like he wanted to be a ballerina or Barbie or something, not that there would be anything wrong with that.

I'm with you tm.
But remember, I put "A Boy Named Sue" on my soundtrack.

Edit - mildly weirded out that fringey beat me to the sap line, but I think I will recover.

And that reminds me, my first girlfriend was a Barry Manilow freak. I may need to add a 10 second clip from that just to set the mood before fading into, say, Patti Smith.

Thanks ncs. Um, how about an original Magnus artwork? He just started preschool and has discovered the joys of glue puddles (with multicolored macaroni in them, natch) that take 3 days to dry.

Seeing as most of this stuff is older than 11 years and there are no Boy Bands, yeah, I'm pretty sure...
Can't help it, I listen to a lot of harder stuff, but it doesn't stick with me as long for some reason... Listing Rage Against the Machine or the Clash or bands like that wouldn't cut it because if I was that nonconformist I wouldn't be here...

I will always beat you. Just give up.
Head Like A Hole is the obligatory "I hate her" song for when the chick about whom he was earlier experiencing "You're Nobody ('Til Somebody Loves You)."
It sort of might give the impression that the one person referenced in Head Like A Hole is yucko, rather than the entire human race. Or sex-in-which-one-is-interested.

You are such a lawyer. I was going to say an 11-yr-old girl with an older sibling who listens to 80s/early 90s (?) music incessantly, but all the extra explanation took away the punch.
You could be an 11 yr old girl w/taste (re: boy bands)

Or it could just be that the song reminds me of my college years. But don't let me interrupt the Amateur Psychoanalysis Hour, it's entertaining...

I know I'm a day late with this (fucking work getting in the way of my fucking catching up), but upon moving to the Southland I was delighted to find the proliferation of a drink called "Orange Bang," and its white, coconut flavored cousin. Carried at all Subway sandwich outlets, many other fast-food places, and every taqueria worth its tequila-salt-and-lime. It's quite tasty, but doesn't quite fit into the Atkins diet.
Also similarly observed: day-laborers of hispanic origin will choose Coke over Diet Coke, Sprite over Coke, and pizza with topings over plain cheese pies. And they'll do a kick-ass job turning your stucco/cottage-cheese ceilings into smooth ones.
