I see. Things move so quickly around here now that it's impossible to catch up on two weeks worth of stuff. Some travel, a big transaction and a vacation have kept me away for a month or so, and there are like hundreds of pages more now.

Hey! It looks like we have a new candidate for board motto! EvenOdds, get right on that please.

"Bodies" was the one Pistols song that PiL played when I saw them in '84 or thereabouts. Johnny was already pretentious by that time, but he wasn't old and fat yet. They ripped through Bodies.
Fuck this and fuck that, fuck it all to fuck the fucking brat.

You missed so much. You have some intense ketching up to do. You will remain hopelessly lost without it.

I've tried a couple of times, but I haven't even been able to get back to where I left off. That, and my damn computer crashes so often that LT doesn't survive in the background for more than an hour or two. So I'll need a memo on recent topics from you ASAP. Make sure to keycite it or citecheck it or whatever the hell that is called against current posts as of the minute you e-mail it to me, please.

Static turned up really loud, with occasional feedback and fingernails scraping down a chalkboard.
It's how I maintain my cheery demeanor.
BTW, for those who liked Cryptonomicon, it appears that Neal Stephenson has a sequel (or follow-up or whatever) out called Quicksilver. I haven't read it so have no idea if it is better or worse or different or anything. Apparently there are characters from the earlier book in this one.

Simultaneously evading the question and changing the subject. You're good.

You have been dealing with small children too much. The technique is way obvious in a post. I was going to do separate posts but I'm lazy.

I'm an incurable sap. I never get pissy at former SOs (or not-so-S Os) or hate them, I just yearn for them forever and ever and ever. My house is filled with cute teddy bears and chickies and bunnies (the stuffed plush kind, not stinky poopy real ones).
I'm not even sure what some of those songs are. Perhaps you should send me a CD

TV Junkie Needs Explanations

I forgot to set the VCR and missed the first half of The Bachelor last night. The previews showed an ambulance and someone sick in the bathroom. Must have happened before I got home. What was it? And one girl didn't come home from the first group date -- what happened to her?
Some of those women are ruthless in their tactics. This could be the most interesting Bachelor type show yet. Meow meow. Scary thing is, some of them think they are in love with him and would marry him if he asked. Hello? You saw him on TV and had one group date with him.
Is anyone but me geeky enough to watch Law & Order (my excuse -- I never watched before last season so it's like a new show to me)? I completely did not get the ending. The threat to put this guy's [unseen] GF on the stand made him drop his "the pressure affirmative action put on me to succeed made me do it" defense and plead. So what was the deal?

This is both the lamest and best Bachelor yet, matching stunningly delusional women with a guy with no taste in women, or the ability to tell the manipulative from the chaff.

I watch it. For some reason they hadn't investigated the gf angle ahead of time, but it suddenly occurred to them that they could use her as a bargaining tactic. They guessed, correctly apparently, that she was white. He would lose credibility for being a victim of AA if they could show how easily he moved within the white world, I think is how the script's thinking went.
Of course, I have no idea what relevant facts they could possibly get her to testify on--sure he was with her when he was supposed to be meeting up with the fugitive, but they'd already stipulated that he faked the story. State of mind? That's the only thing I could think of--but they wouldn't want to just up and call her without first checking to make sure she'd say he was showing no signs of being under stress, etc.
