Neither Fred, nor Harmony, nor the icy blond "liason to the senior partners" really floats my boat. I want another female added, stat. I'm saying prayers that Charisma Carpenter gets out of rehab intact.

On the lukewarm recommendation of the local paper's TV critic, I made the mistake of watching Navy NCIS, the latest in redundant acronymic crime shows from CBS. Horrid. It was like watching JAG without the lawyers flying jets. In slow motion. Mark Harmon remains the only man who could talk me into a MFM with Mrs. Grinch, and he's miles ahead of the JAG folks in terms of conveying moods with his eyebrows, but I won't be watching again. I guess it's target-marketed to the folks who mist up and cream their jeans when any television character says "Semper Fi" in a non-ironic context.

BTW, speaking of military-themed CSI ripoffs, did I mention Red Cap is the most disappointing series ever to air on BBC America? I mean, after Ground Force America, a show which perversely is not about the military?

Rush Limbaugh doing Oxy. What a laugh. Shows you how fucking stupid you have to be to be a ditto head.

Do you really think that these guys -- Rush, O'Reilly, really have any strongly held beliefs? No. They are entertainers feigning these beliefs to get ratings. They are reality-TV (or radio) versions of Archie Bunker.

That's okay. Like every other self-righteous right-winger caught doing drugs (or his secretary), he'll find Jesus next week and feel really, really bad. So it's like it won't even count.

Love the Shaun A. avatar. One of the really unappreciated players of the last few years. Should have beaten out Ron Dayne for the Heisman.

If he could only explain why he chose to name his child "Heaven."

Hey, he had a game to attend. Had been on a different day, he could have come up with something much worse.

Bad nfl pregame shows and hardcore drugs lead you to Jesus. This pretty much sets my weekend. Hallelujah!

Charisma stopped being hot the second she got short hair. (Yes, the extensions gave her ludicrous amounts of volume impossible to achieve in nature, but it looked good.) I miss Lilah. Maybe they'll bring back electro-chick, whatever her name was. She was a lot of fun, ripoff of Rogue though she might be.

BR(and Lindsey. God, still I miss Lindsey like fire)C

I knew I'd hear from you on this one. Yeah, he's overrated by whom? His fellow players who make him a Pro-Bowl player? The media who can't get enough of quarterbacks who can do it all - pass, think, run. You're so blinded by your politics that you jump to Limbaugh's defense for the sake of jumping to his defense.

Marino never won a superbowl either. Is he overrated because the media considers him one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh, cry me a fucking river. You're bitching about people getting interviews? Interviews? You sound like a complete jackass. So what the NFL is trying to get all the white owners to consider someone they normally wouldn't. They aren't guaranteed a position, dumbass. How is asking a team to interview someone a problem? Are you worried about owners being inconvenienced? They won't have as much time to jerk off because they have to interview another candidate that they won't really consider? Please.

And given the number of black players out there, you would think that there would be more black coaches, wouldn't you? But I doubt I'll ever hear you yelling about the intelligent black players who are never considered for coaching positions or the stereotypes coaches have to fight to move up the coaching chain.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fuck them. No one's going to win them over anyway. And Limbaugh deserves to be piled-on. He's a moron who is getting what he deserves. In fact, it's what he wanted. He realized he was no longer relevant (if he ever was) so he decided to rile everyone up again to get some attention. So you should be happy he's succeeded in doing exactly what he aimed to do.

She stopped being interesting when she turned into St. Cordelia. She was a cast iron bitch and they forgot about her. I haven't seen this week's episode yet, but I've heard good things from the (skeptical) peanut gallery, so I haven't given up on the show yet.

If Fred were to die, I'd be cheering on.

Post this on another board (hint: PB), and you'll get a reasoned discourse of how way-left politics is actually the apotheosis of sexism.

Modern liberalism's only great success is how it has caused far-righters to fall all over themselves explaining how political movements dominated by women and minorities are necessarily more racist and sexist than themselves. We've re-written the rulebook. Yay, us!

James Spader. But the problem is it's as if David Kelley, now that Ally McBeal is off the air, has merged the two shows. Spader is completely Ally McBeal material, right down to the Robert Downey glasses and mannerisms. We'll see if Sharon Stone helps matters in this way.

For the rest of the post, I agree with you, BUT I think the NFL did a pretty shitty thing to make Matt Millen pay $200,000 for not interviewing anyone but Mariucci. Millen got a hard on the second he heard that Mariucci was available, and it was obvious to EVERYONE on the get-go that he'd be courting Mariucci hard. Spending a lot of efforts to bring in other candidates would have been a waste of time and resources, and Millen was being honest about the fact that he didn't want make any token guestures when it was clear that he had his sights on Mariucci. Five minority candidates were invited to interview, but they all declined because they knew Mariucci would get the job. Millen shouldn't have to hide his intentions OR go through an otherwise useless exercise of inviting people in only to say, nope, we're going with Mariucci.

A la Paigow, I'm very distressed that I missed Angel because NO ONE here mentioned that it was on again, to say nothing of the new night. Rats!!

Speaking of the NBC lineup, I watched Coupling. I'm a mild fan of the British version although it doesn't wear very well in re-view. Why did they bother to reproduce the American show? The scripts are nearly identical except for minor slang alterations (cuddle becomes snuggle or something equally absurd). Even the mannerisms of the actors seem exactly the same.

Perhaps the problem here is not the writing on Friends but that the viewer expects to hear narrative from a sitcom?
