I don't think you know the definition of the word "all".

LAS VEGAS - Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid on Wednesday pronounced Attorney General Alberto Gonzales qualified to sit on the Supreme Court, but added, "I don't know if he'd have an easy way through" Senate confirmation.

We don't have the votes to stop him - barring our use of a filibuster, which would kill us in the mid-term elections - but we have plenty of hatchet men (and women) willing to smear the hell out of him.

Yeah, they're probably going to start spreading crazy rumors about how he authored a memo greenlighting the use of torture.
Actually, the biggest smears I've heard so far have come from the right, and they seem presciently timed and well coordinated. I'm not into conspiracy theories, but . . .
eta: P.S. Great sig line.

If they really felt he was a good choice, this is shockingly poor gamesmanship. He would make a nice compromise candidate imo.

The Dems don't want to knock out Gonzales. Moderate Dems know he's the best they're going to get. He's as close as they'll get to a Rockefeller Republican on the Court, which is as close as they'll get to a Democrat. The option is a pile of 4th Circuit Jesus Trash on the court.
I have no issue with Gonzales.

Yes, but if a Gitmo detainee case came before the Court, would he have to recuse himself?

I think they're running a stall the clock defense about three quarters too early... and about two touchdowns down.

No those guys are third tier. Lower lights. Second tier is reserved for the Conscience of the Democratic Party. Shameful.

Awwww, poor baby. Someone is going to "smear" him by talking about his brilliant legal analysis in favor of torture.

I don't think they are murderers, but I do think they've been involved in some really shady shit. I also believe that Bill raped Juanita.

Doesn't just suggesting he's qualified make him unqualified to the Baby Jebus crowd that controls the purse strings? This seems like a six year old trying to use reverse psychology to not get that mars bar at the grocery store checkout counter. Rank and file amateurs the lot of them.
