RIP, Julia "I like butter" Child.* Hank and Jack are still pickless. Myabe you all guessed that.
*thanks to Flinty for that one.

Dammit! I didn't put her on my list because I didn't want her to die. I wonder if her shows are available in a DVD boxed set yet?
This is getting me almost as bad as when Mr. Rogers died. Man I am a basket case.

eta Looks like I'll be putting this on my Christmas list:

Speaking of Julia Child....
tmdiva, it's that time of year again. I have to bake like a fiend this next week because I was overambitious in pre-registering for the State Fair baking competition.
BTW, getting the skin off toasted hazelnuts is not as easy as I had anticipated. The directions made it sound like it was no big deal.

chalk one up for ole Hank!
In a politcal screed, a former novelist of a talent about equal to Gattigap's, has accepted he is good as dead:

Albert Einstein and Mark Twain gave up on the human race at the end of their lives, even though Twain hadn’t even seen World War I. War is now a form of TV entertainment. And what made WWI so particularly entertaining were two American inventions, barbed wire and the machine gun. Shrapnel was invented by an Englishman of the same name. Don’t you wish you could have something named after you?
Like my distinct betters Einstein and Twain, I now am tempted to give up on people too. And, as some of you may know, this is not the first time I have surrendered to a pitiless war machine.
My last words? “Life is no way to treat an animal, not even a mouse.”
ready to die, already spoke his last words, and on only 1 list. ncs ring me up!

Our president is a Christian? So was Adolf Hitler.
What can be said to our young people, now that psychopathic personalities, which is to say persons without consciences, without a sense of pity or shame, have taken all the money in the treasuries of our government and corporations and made it all their own?
I think I know why you want him to die, Hank. Why isn't Sean Penn on your list too? Tim Robbins?

They've already punted California. Did Vonnegut move to Florida by any chance?

It's been comatose for a while already ...
I'd put the West Wing on my list if I were playing in this pool, but perhaps that's too easy.
The show has signed Alan Fucking Alda and is in talks with Jimmy Smits. Just shoot it now. And if that makes you sad, watch Seasons 1-3 on DVD and remember the way it was when you first fell in love.

If ER can linger on a decade longer than anyone would admit to watching it, I see no reason why The West Wing will go away anytime soon.

Elvis has left the building
I know he wasn't famous in his own right, but who hasn't said "Elvis has left the building?"
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Al Dvorin, the concert announcer who made famous the phrase “Elvis has left the building,” was killed in an auto accident in California. He was 81.

No show is truly dead until it brings on Ted McGinley. I recommend they cast him as a Santorumesque demogogue and kill the show while we still remember when it was good.
BTW, my projected season opener was posted here on the PB. Technically not a spoiler since I have no inside info, but an eddycated guess.

In what can only be attributed to Sorkin's hybris, Ted McGinley has already guested on the West Wing, back during Season 2, when it actually was still good.

In an FB-friendly way, I should point out that Robert Smigel's short-lived and occasionally genius puppet and sketch show on Comedy Central helpfully gave us this mnemonic for Kubler-Ross's five stages of grief: Drink Alcohol Before Doing Anal. Words of wisdom, my friends.

Oh my god. She died during anal sex month. And on the day Mandy GA appeared.
As Keanu would say, whoa.
