This is the best reality show yet. People either: (1) butcher themselves for my entertainment; or (2) make themselves better looking for men who fuck them. What could possibly be wrong with this? Bring on the lions and the gladiators. Since suicide should be legal, a risk of death for money or fame should be too - with the proper waivers, of course, along with wagering thereon.

The Swan also is just the public face of a rapidly approaching future predicted by so many science fiction writers - the ability to alter appearance at will, change sex, shape, colors, body art, etc., i.e. freeing humanity from the constraints of the human genome, to do what they wish with their own bodies. The possibilities are virtually unlimited.

The first steps are going to be halting. Some otherwise sad and pathetic people will suffer facial tics and bad boob jobs in an effort to be like Pam Anderson (hopefully without the Hep C), and some genetic experiments will undoubtedly go awry, but the first organ transplants had a poor success rate too. Heinlein said "the moon is a harsh mistress," but he forgot to add that eventually you tame the bitch and get to fuck her in the ass if you want.

No, I call bullshit...you ain't tamed nothing...anyTHING that is stupid enough to fuck you more than once doesn't need any taming...she just requires a $20.

Let it ride, Ashley.
I love the use of "probably" in that sentence. I've said many times "If I get up $500, I'm probably going to quit." Never works out that way.

Board motto.

I managed to watch a decent portion of the Bachelor, but don't recall why. Way to get two hours out of fifteen minutes of action, ABC!

If there's a pool, I'm saying this guy picks the blond law student from LA. Now I have to go figure out if the hot pro soccer player made it.

WHOA, That show was two hours? Look at what Tivo has done to me. No wonder I went to bed at midnight. Now that I have Tivo I notice that I have sort of lost all sense of time. And ironically, I have been getting to bed way later. Strange phenomenon.

I have been wondering what my next technology purchase should be. Right now, the main options are:

--New TV - current 20 incher was obtained second hand in 1996.
--DVD player (probably DVD/VHS combo) - I currently can only play DVDs on my work laptop.
--Tivo - would probably require a new TV, but everyone says it changes their lives.
--New computer for home. Would probably be a laptop for convenience. Our current desktop is 6 years old and the Mr. can't play games on it anymore.
--Second air conditioner - so we can have a room other than the bedroom cool in the summer.
--Other suggestions? Whatever it is, you can assume I don't have one.

I like Tina Fey. I think she's allright looking, but my opinion may be skewed because anyone looks really funny and cool next to Jimmy Fallon.

Wow, a topic on the FB that I actually have some relevant experience on. Way back when, I used to work at a luggage shop. Tumi luggage is pretty nice, but now there are a lot of less expensive choices that are just as nice and durable. Tumi did have some problems with their rollerboards, not sure if they've redesigned them. Alex is right--TravelPro's are very popular with flight crews, and for good reason, durable, light, and well-designed for travel. I picked up a TravelPro at a going out of business sale, when the store thought one of the wheels was broken and discounted it even further. It cost me $40 out the door. All I needed to do was unscrew the wheel and put it back on properly. Best bag I've owned. Carries plenty of stuff for 2 people on a weekend. Not sure if they make a garment rollerbag though. Pretty sure that Tumi does.

Hartmann luggage is also very nice, but waay too expensive for normal people, at least the all leather models. French luggage (the brand) is well made, but for old ladies. You might check out Boyt luggage too. And frankly, take a look at your local Costco--that Kirkland luggage is not too shabby, and probably made by a well-known luggage manufacturer.

God, I really am a geek.

See, if it weren't for Catholicism I wouldn't feel guilty about being so attractive.
I thank God I'm not ugly every day. If I was ugly I'd have absolutely nothing going for me.

If you could be only one of the following two, which would it be?

Really really attractive (hot) or really really smart.

I'd go with attractive, because I'm not very smart.

Funny--I can totally identify with you on the slow-to-pick-up-new-hardware thing. We got a new TV about a year and a half ago, prior to which we were still using the 20-incher (with mono sound, a wood-grain cabinet and no on-screen functions) we got second-hand in 1996. We ended up getting a very-slightly-used 27-inch stereo TV, which has been very nice.

We finally purchased a DVD player in December, but opted to just get a basic model since a) we already have a VCR, and b) I'm still waiting for the prices to come down on the Panasonic DVRs that can play DVDs, have lots of recording time, AND can record something while you're watching a previously-recorded program--they're like combo TiVo and DVD player, without the annoying "here's another show I think you'd like" aspect.

We also bought a new computer in December to replace the work-owned Pentium II we'd been using. When I find the time, I'm going to burn DVDs of all the old family slides. We ended up getting a desktop, with the idea that our next purchase will be a G4 laptop (when they come out), which we will then link to the desktop via wireless network.

Another recent electronics purchase was a high-frequency cordless phone with three handsets. It also has intercom, walkie-talkie and room monitor capability. Of course, I live in a three-story house (not a McMansion--it was built in 1910), so these features matter more for me.

PM me if you are interested in more details.

Hartman is the crap my mother bought me. That's not that expensive, and if it is, I hate her more. And I will let her know my displeasure has not abated when I see her this weekend for the celebration-of-the-nailing-of-some-important-cat-to-a-cross-gig.

God, does Easter blow... Its such a non-event holiday, yet you still have to go home and get drunk with old relatives. I'm pretty sure Easter is the afterthought Christian version of Passover, just like the Jews get Hannukah around Xmas-time.

I always knew there was a downside to coming from a Southern Baptist family. The possibility of getting drunk (even if it's with one's old relatives) actually would make the holiday seem more appealing.
