Well, I don't have a repressed porn-hating wife, but I can see the prosecution's point that somebody who did that wouldn't be worried about explaining the decision to his wife...

Well, right, but it also wouldn't be done by anyone who thought they would eventually have their television watching habits put in front of a jury with his life on the line.

The effect on the jury will depend on the jury. I defer to anyone who actually saw the voir dire, i.e., if Geragos wants to keep it out and Distaso wants it in, I think it weighs against Peterson. It fits with the prosecution's theory that he acted like an unmarried man whenever Laci wasn't around, and that didn't change when she disappeared. God bless our adversary system --- it clarifies these things so well!

What does it mean to act like an unmarried man (aside from the sex with someone other than your wife thing)? I'm not sure I would rely on that as a theory - it seems to me it's hard to be specific about how married men act and how unmarried men act (same goes for women most of the time too).

Agreed. I can't believe the judge allowed this in. It's unfairly prejudicial and of limited probative value, particularly in light of the Do-It-Yourself Burial At Sea disc they found in the dvd player.

Acting like an unmarried man= for those who don't know the actual answer and observe your behavior, they'd think you're unmarried. This would be similar to people thinking I'm an only child. Many people think I'm making it up when I say I have a sister. Acting like an only child=self-centered, not good at sharing, impatient.

Other than having sex with women while claiming to be single, I'm not sure what other behaviors of unmarrieds we would look for. Not going to Bed, Bath and Beyond?

He told Shawn Sibley and Amber Frey he was not married. In fact, he told Sibley he had "lost" his wife and was now unmarried.

He was trying to with Amber Frey. He called her like 1000 times in the period after he killed Laci. Good thing she taped him.

Lying about being married is a rather common trait among married men, I believe.
