Now I am once again sad that Ironweed is not a manspinster. Is PLF a manspinster? Burger? Coltrane?

Interesting question, that...
But, since you asked (and apologies for my tardy reply -- damn work really gets in the way of my keeping up with the goings-on around here!!):
Noun-plus-noun (as we have here) is an open compound (similar to crowd pleaser). However, if modified slightly to noun-plus-gerund or noun-plus-adjective, it would be hyphenated (man-pleasing) when the compound precedes a noun it modifies (for example, "man-pleasing tendencies"). [The debate rages on as to whether such compounds should be open or hyphenated when they follow the noun they modify. Guess which position I advocate...!]

I think dying before 40, particularly if you are a man, retroactively removes the spinster stigma.

Not to mention that JC wasn't a spinster -- it's well documented that he hooked up with Mary Madgaliane (sp?), who later moved with their child to the then-greek colony of Marseilles on the coast of Gaul, creating a bloodline that would eventually become to Monrovians, who would interbreed with the Rothscholds and eventually take over Europe, which to this day they control with the cooperation and help of the Zionist swiss bankers.
I read it in a book. It must be true.

That saying is sooooo passe. The new, in, hip saying is "I read it on the Internet, so it must be true."

AI Houston
I had stupid fucking dvr problems last night so no AI Houston was waiting for me when I got home from drinking. (Speaking of drinking, I am very jealous that our friends in the Pacific NW have easy access to the King Estate Vin Glace, which is impossible to find here.)
Given how few people came out of the Houston audition, it's clear that the prohibition on professional musicians really hurt the talent pool. Houston is the home of many independent hip hop and r&b labels, so anyone with any talent has probably already sung a hook on someone's record.

Did anyone watch AI - Houston last night? Why does Paula always get the flu? Is it really the flu? Was she just getting her teeth whitened again? Has Simon got a beer belly now?
Could they have ranked on Houston any more? Are there hundreds of really effeminate guys in Houston or did they just decided to show them all having a hissy fit on the same show?
|
Last night was a tough TV night; I watched Apprentice. AI and OC before calling it a night, leaving Celebrity Mole Yucatan, Law & Order and Bachelorette for the weekend. Anyways, the same comment was made in my house about Paula always seeming to fall ill during these auditions. Personally, I think she hasn't the stomach for it. Too bad, as it's the most entertaining part of the season. Houston seemed particularly awful; I have no answer on what is up with all the flamboyantly bad singers. The gays must love AI; too bad AI doesn't love them back (save Clay, natch).

Or something because at one point I think I saw Randy cry. He asked this one guy what the problem was with Houston since they had not found anyone worth a damn the first day. Then he said he was going to call Beyonce and ask her what the problem was. But the number of queens having hissy fits was astounding. Astounding.

Not exactly. Keep connecting the dots.

I don't recall them being here. It must not have been well publicized, or else you could have seen me sing (assuming my real name is not Roman).

Same here. I know at least three or four people who would have tried out if they knew it was coming here. Wait, Roman sang? Oh, no....
