I am not for the amendment except to the extent that it prevents the expansion of social security rights. I am for nothing that would expand social security.
A correct statement of my position is that it is time for the government to get out of the marriage business.
And from a purely legal standpoint, I am interested in what will happen with the polygamy cases. There is already one in Utah and it will be interesting to see how the courts handle it.

The Next DEM Mantra

"I believe this administration just helped overthrow, basically overthrow, a democratically elected president," Vanessa Kerry, 27, said during a campaign stop at Stony Brook University of the ouster of Jean-Bertrand Aristide. "We basically, in our silence, allowed him to be deposed."

Attempts to reach Barbara and Jenna Bush for analysis of developments in Haiti were unsuccessful, mostly because they could not hear reporters' questions over the din of the trendy Manhattan saloons they frequent.

Truly unfortunate, as even a response of "Who cares...now hand me another drink" would be much more enlightened and intellectually honest than this twaddle from the new "JFK Jr."

Reagan students remember Jimmy Carter's famous answer at the debates "I asked my daughter Amy what worries her most, and she said the bomb, daddy."
The Democratic daughters are just smarter.

Does this knucklehead even know who it was that deposed him? It was the freaking people who deposed him after he rigged the last election.
What a moron.
BTW - what is the scoop on Kerry's first wife? Was she a ding bat like the kid? Why did they divorce?

You do have to give the Dems that one. Remember Patty Davis?

On to VEEP selection . . .
NYT suggests that Bill Clinton would be a strong VP choice for Kerry.
There are an awful lot of people who would have voted him in as Prez again if they could. So, I'm thinking that Kerry needs to avoid this choice like the plague. Clinton cannot be elected Prez again - but he can assume the office if he's VP when Kerry gets assassinated.

And another way the GOP fucked Texas
So that redistricting battle, remember that? Dems came back in October and said, "fine, whatever, pass your maps, we'll fight in court." So the maps were immediately passed, right? Fuck no. The GOP, in all it's fighting with the Dems about whether or not redistricting needed to happen in the first place, forgot to agree internally as to which map to endorse. So another month went by before the GOP stopped fighting amongst themselves and final lines were drawn.
This meant that the primary had to be pushed back a week. Which means now that Texas was effectively eliminated from having any impact whatsoever in the presidential primaries.
I guess I'll have to go vote for Kerry next week. Fun.

Not eligible for VP either. Whatever the relevant amendment/clause is says something like "No person who shall not be eligible to be president shall be eligible to be elected vice president" So Arnold can't run as Bush's running mate either.

And so did the NYT, I guess.

Just to confirm I'm not crazy, see 12th amendment:
Quote:
But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.

I'll be outraged if NYU Law School is not dropped several spots in the US News rankings for this oversight by one of its professors.

Let's be specific here.
I think that the posting of the 12thA language confirms that you were correct in your original assertion.
I don't know that it takes you beyond that one narrow confirmation.

that's too bad. I was hoping we'd get the chance to redo the impeachment with a few more republicans in the Senate.
