Previous Palm d'Or winners can be explained thusly:
The Pianist (2002 -- love of Nazis)
Dancer in the Dark (2000 -- hatred of sunlight)
Pulp Fiction (1994 -- hatred of black men)
The Piano (1993 -- hatred of index fingers)
The Mission (1986 -- love of Christ)
Les Parapluies de Cherbourg (1964 -- hatred of precipitation).

I make a habit of not giving my cash to usless fuckups like the DNC, moveon.org, and Michael Moore, so I'll just wait to watch it until Netflix has it in October. Until then, Andy Sullivan has my proxy:
"Well, I broke down and went to see the Michael Moore movie. I was expecting to be outraged, offended, maddened, etc etc. No one told me I'd be bored. The devices were so tired, the analysis worthy of something by an intern in the Nation online, the sad attempts to blame everything on Bush so strained and over-wrought even the most credulous of conspiracists would have a hard time giving them the time of day. This won the top Cannes prize? Only hatred of America can explain that."
That being said, so much has already been written about this modern day "Triumph of the Will" that I already feel like I've seen it more times than "Animal House"
|
My distaste for Michael Moore is well-documented, but I am struck by how many of the reviews of this movie suggest that he has created some new form of movie hitherto, like a documentary but with gills or something. Not sure what's going on here. I'm waiting for a die-hard lefty to tell me it's shite, or a righty to tell me otherwise. Andrew Sullivan acting bored is, however, nothing new. Anyone here recommend it?

The WSJ said it had moments - albeit few - that were hilarious.
Are you saying Hitchy isn't a die-hard lefty?

Don't be afraid. After Lawrence and Garner, we're not subject to prosecution any longer.

Harvey's bags?
Anyone have a Harvey's seat belt bag? In a color other than black? I'm wondering whether they show dirt.

Other than Pulp Fiction, what does talking about these movies have in cmmon with talking about Fahrenheit 9/11?
Answer: talking about them requires guess work because only 1 or 2 people here have seen them, yet.

I can't think of a single constitutional right that I would recommend that Slave exercise in Texas, save his 5th Amendment privilege. Sending Slave to Texas would be like sending Snoop Dogg to Mississippi in 1964.
