Help -- challenging insurance offers
The best and cheapest way to fight something like this is to write a letter to someone very high up on the food chain with the words "bad faith" sprinkled liberally throughout the letter 6-8 times per paragraph, cc the insurance adjuster's supervisor and the state attorney general.

The article left out one fact, though it's implicit: that SUV drivers are 78 IQ Rush Limbaugh listening idjits. Particularly the ones driving Fords.
Seriously, does anyone here notice that Ford drivers seem to be stupider than the drivers of other cars, e.g., no use of turn signals, failure to recognize that the arrow pointing left with a big red line through it means no left turn, etc?

Vote Nader!
Sort of a politics cross post, but Vote Nader!
He's running as an indie, again, apparently because he so deeply desires to oust bush. This clearly marks him as an idiot.
However, he is the only vaguely serious candidate (I know of so far - haven't bothered to check the libertarians yet) to unequivocally stand up and say he supports equal rights for gay people - including the basic human right to marry the person of their choice.
Therefore, I am voting for Nader (again), simply because he is the only candidate I could possibly vote for with a clean conscience. I was having real pains at the idea of possibly having to vote for someone who has publicly supported the systematic discrimination against and denial of civil and human rights to any group of Americans. Very few issues rise to the level of unadulterated evil to turn me into a single-issue voter, but discrimination against an innocent minority group and advocacy for a "separate but maybe kind of equal" legal regime to govern them is one. (Anyone who wants to extrapolate to various groups of non-POWs held hither and yon may feel free to do so.)
I hope you will join me.

I note, for the record, that this is unnecessary, because in a correct "sorry, can't come" response to a formal wedding invitation, there is not a space marked "Excuse:".
BR(best etiquette lesson ever - just say "No, thank you.")C

hat trick - support GAs escapting the grinder!
This month's W features a blurb on a GA in L.A. who is transitioning out of the grinder to run her own high-fashion boutique. I urge fellow GAs in the L.A. area to give her shop a look-see and try to support your fellow GA sufferers trying to make a break for it. Quoth the intrepid GA: "I got cold feet about pursuing fashion, but as soon as I started law school, I thought, What have I done?" A sentiment that should stir the heart-strings of a fair number of us.
Her name is Jeannie Lee, and her shop is Satine (on Third Street - I have no idea where that is). She hasn't quit her GA day job yet, but may do pretty well with this boutique and fight her way free - she set up a Nintendo area in the store where boyfriends/husbands may be deposited while one shops, which seems pretty savvy to me. If we were in L.A., I'd probably be dragging the Mr. there on a regular basis.

I hope you will be unable* to vote come election day. I further hope that only people who might otherwise have voted for W will take you up on your call to vote for Nader. As Dean said, the most important thing is to get GWB out of office. You may want to ponder that perhaps D candidates, having learned a lesson finally from R people (esp GWB) are publicly taking positions that do not reflect exactly what they would do if they were in office. This is sometimes done to "broaden appeal."
*for some non-tragic reason, like a last-minute business trip or simple forgetfulness
If any admin feels that perhaps overtly political things don't belong on the FB I won't be offended if deleted.
ETA that if you think Nader is an idiot and that W and whoever ends up being the D candidate are evil, then perhaps it would be more principled to abstain from voting. How proud could anyone be of saying "I voted for an unelectable idiot!"? If the answer is "very proud" you may want to consider that you, yourself, are an idiot.
I also hope that you move to, say, TX where your not voting for the D candidate will make no earthly difference because the state is sure to go for W.

Nintendo? Who plays Nintendo any more? She needs to update her platform. This oversight calls into question her fashion sense, unless she's deliberately going retro.

The store is pretty cool - high end shoes and clothes and you can get a pedicure there, too. It is actually the result of a partnership between the self-described "actress-lawyer" Jeannie Lee and Ilaria Urbinati (who was a buyer for her aunt's store, Laura Urbinati).

So re-electing Bush wouldn't bother your conscience, eh?
As sympathetic as I am to your point, it would certainly bother mine.

That sounds more like an explanation of why one takes sex tours in thailand than a description of how one takes one's coffee.

Jeannie Lee is on the viewer's right. She may meet SS' standards.

Kristin Davis
Slave can knock SJP all he likes, but I like Kristin Davis. This pic displays the line of her ratio and her nips to good effect.

Edited to replace (unviewable) image with link. Work safe (it's Kristin Davis, so, obviously).

Might as well vote for George W. Seriously, because Nader has the capacity to swing the entire election, he's not a protest vote, such as writing in Alfred E. Newman. Wait, AEN is on the ballot.
