Cute. I will get around to interesting at some later point, probably.

I missed TM's original post. The best thing you've done around here is respond to it so that I could see it.
TM hates everyone new, but he's also right. You've been uninteresting. You're skating by on the fact that you've got NotBob's seal of approval, but sooner or later, that's going to wear thin. So if you are going to get around to being interesting, now might be a good time to get to it. Before TM welcomes you to the Land of Fu.

Jesus H. Christ. When did we institure a "no boring avatar" policy? And annoying? Please. This one is far down on the list of annoying ones.
With very few exceptions, there are no inherently interesting avatars (hi, gwnc!) here. Look at mine, for example. I forgot the reason I have Rockford -- I had a Bob Newhart one as my first avatar, and that was probably more appropriate for me. But I switched to Rockford as a joke, and now no one would know who was posting if I switched back.
The one possibly valid objection (raised by ncs, I think) is that she runs the risk of being confused with GGG. But dtb has a B&W pic, and no one mixes her up with him. I am sure that before long nononono will establish her personality, and that won't be an issue. And hank screws me up all the time by imitating paigow, so . . .

coincidence that the b-and-w avatar offenders were both repetitive in their moniker selection or is g3 having a bit of fun with us by becoming n4?

The Primeau fan in that picture looks a little bit creepy, no?

Rushing to her defense again. So cute. I don't care that n4 is uninteresting, it's fun to watch you stick up for your girlfriend.

Just when you start to think nobody ever defends anybody on the FB. Well, at least it's over a serious issue, and in response to stinging criticism.

I hate it when I give the same greeting to someone who has just greeted me. It always makes me feel stupid. I know it's a dumb thing to be bothered by, but when someone says, "How you been?" and I have already cued up those same words in my head, I feel like an ass saying, "How you been?" Works with "Hey, man," and other greetings as well.
I think this happens to me more than others, who might actually be interested to know how the other person is or who may actually be listening to what the other person is saying.
|
It's worse (if you're me) when I usually miss the cue and respond with a "fine thanks and you" when someone says something like "haven't seen you in awhile". I have a response greeting all geared up but it's always the wrong one.

I never worked the "meditative deep cat" rap.
BTW, I was discussing with my wife the other day the worst rap you ever used to get out of hooking up with someone. I had this canned bit about how I was really upset about my parents and my life and how I had this strained relationship with my dad. I'd make up some story about how he and I fought recently, which had put me out of the mood to hook up. This backfired a lot, however, cuz the cougar-in-training would then feel sorry for my and want to take care of me, at which point I'd have to act absurdly deranged and upset to cut the cord. My wife says she used the same canned shit story, and so did a lot of her friends. I wonder how prevalant the usage of that story is.
