So? I go around telling people Bono is English, and that Alan Dershowitz is actually a doctor.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Saw this over the weekend. It was good standing on its own. (I haven't seen the original in so long that I couldn't make any coherent comparison, but the remake is different, and has a somewhat more consistent, darker and more polished tone - not sure if that is necessarily good or bad, given the above mentioned long time since I've seen the original.) It is a refreshingly straightforward horror movie - not making smart-ass inter-textual jokes, no satire, nothing but pretty straight narrative. And the effect is surprisingly sincerely scary. I was very pleased that a movie taking a simple "so, there's this town of inbred mutant freaks and a chainsaw guy who hacks people up and wears them" was so effective.

Anyhow, worth seeing, should give you lots of nifty nightmares from some really memorable scenes. The Mr. couldn't sleep at all after and was up until 4 am on the internet looking up stuff about Ed Gein. Even jaded old me had some colorful dreams.

BR(when I've had a chance to rent the original again, I will post my compare/contrast analysis)C

NB: no one gets their tits out. Doesn't detract.

this sounds suspiciously like The Daintest Petunia's apparent manifesto.

This is a travesty. We should all write to NBC. Boomtown was one of the smartest shows on TV. (and I have a friend who stars on it...so it should stay on the air so that I can pat myself on the back that I know someone on TV)

So you're identifying yourself as Paigow's friend, no?

Edited to say that Richard Simmons is quite possibly the creepiest human alive. He makes John Basedow look positively almost normal by comparison.

Well, now, see, D.C. Sniper, well now see, see what you have done.

There should be some kind of rule that if you fire your lawyers in a capital case and seek to represent yourself on the morning of opening statements, you should just cut to the chase and be put to death right then and there.

Shades of Colin Ferguson.

HAAAAAA! This is fuuuuuneee! And I don't even understand any of it. LOL!!! This place is like inside-joke-o-rama! Rama-lama-ding-dong!!! First, Mr. Connect the Dots was trying to be Mr. Pushy Puppy and now he is trying to be Ms. Paigow! It is like some sort of postmodern thing or something!! I think the motto of the fashion tips board should be "Welcome To The Postmodern Cocktail Party!!!" hahaha It is TOTALLY like a cocktail party. There are the cool people who are over on one side of the party, whispering and saying mean things about the uncool people on the other side. And there is the nice hostess who tries to make sure everyone has a good time (THANKS MS. LEAGLEAZE!!!! ). And then, have you ever been to a cocktail party where things get quiet because people do not really have anything to say to each other and then someone says "Hey, I know! Let's play charades!", and then everyone is like "Yeah, cool!" because then there will be something to do and people will have something to talk about???? That is like the polls! I LOVE the polls! Just like I love charades at cocktail parties!! And I don't even really like charades!! haha Ironic! I said that because someone sent me ANOTHER PM asking me if I was Mr. Pretty Flower!!! I know a few inside jokes myself!

you think? Moussaoui's case seems to be going better than T. McVeigh's went. Sometimes the tactic of asking for insanely unreasonable things and rambling on about your theories might be the best defense. Maybe it depends on how bad your case is to start with.

Come on! How is this possible? (Unless when you say "was" you mean he is no longer...)

When do they replay "The Office"? I missed a lot of it last night (and missed the first one -- damn!), but do have the entire first season, which helps ease the pain.

Moussaoui (I'll take your word on the spelling) is a special case. When the government says "We told everybody that you're a member of a criminal conspiracy, but we won't allow you to subpoena any of them to testify even though it's leaked that they say you weren't part of the conspiracy because you were too stupid and couldn't be trusted, because what these people have to say is a matter of national security," even an idiot could convince the judge that something's rotten in the state of Ashcroft.

The DOJ will get some mileage out of convincing the public that liberal judges don't care about terrorism, and then convict Moussaoui of miscellaneous visa violations or whatever and declare victory. The sad part is, he's probably good for it.

There it is then. I will have my girl look into this and inform you all of what the verdict is, although I would probably do better up on Michigan in that I will be closer to places I will be frequenting.

First round is on me Wonk.

For the rest of you who chose not to participate in the poll, NO SOUP FOR YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!
