Thank you, Fox News
Part of a whole, indeed.
So on that beacon of the commercial airwaves, Fox "We Report. You Decide" News, they had a former US Prosecutor John Loftus exercising his formidable brain power in an Aug 7 episode about terrorism.
In a piece about the London bombings, Loftus identified a Los Angeles man of Middle Eastern descent suspected of ties to terrorist groups responsible for the July 7 London bombings. As a measure of FNC's broadcasting standards and Loftus' wonderful judgment, they decided to give on national television the actual street address at which such potentially evil Middle Eastern Man could be found.
Now, perhaps it should have occurred to Loftus and to FNC that this was probably a poor tactical move generally, but also they should have considered the possibility that they were wrong. Because they were.
Potentially Evil Middle Eastern Man hadn't lived in that address in 3 years. Turns out this suburban fixer-upper was now owned by a middle class white family with three kids.
Oopsie!
- In what Fox News officials concede was a mistake, John Loftus, a former U.S. prosecutor, gave out the address Aug. 7, saying it was the home of a Middle Eastern man, Iyad K. Hilal, who was the leader of a terrorist group with ties to those responsible for the July 7 bombings in London.
Hilal, whom Loftus identified by name during the broadcast, moved out of the house about three years ago. But the consequences were immediate for the Voricks.
Satellite photos of the house and directions to the residence were posted online. The Voricks told police, who arranged for the content to be taken down. Someone even removed the street sign where the Voricks live to provide some protection.
Still, it has not been easy.
A driver yelled a profanity at the family and called them terrorists as they barbecued on their patio Aug. 14. Some drivers have stopped and photographed the house, Randy Vorick said.
Last weekend, someone spray-painted "Terrist" on their home. Police, who have regularly patrolled their house since the day after the broadcast, now station a squad car across the street.
Randy, a restaurant manager, and Ronnell, a manager at a staffing agency, have been married 19 years and met as teenagers when they worked at a local McDonald's.
They grew up in La Habra and bought the house three years ago after Hilal moved out so they could be close to Ronnell Vorick's parents.
Nice. And FNC and Loftus? They sent a nice apology (though apparently, not on the air), which I'm sure helps erase the spray paint.
- Loftus also apologized and told The Times last week that "mistakes happen."
"I'm terribly sorry about that. I had no idea. That was the best information we had at the time," he said.
Loftus said he gave out the address to help local police, and insisted that Hilal, a Garden Grove grocery store owner, was a terrorist.
"I thought it might help police in that area now that we have positively identified a terrorist living in [Orange County]," he said.
No, you twit, it might help police if you actually CALL THE POLICE, not broadcast your piece of shit theory on national television.
God, what morons.

This is a small inconvience for the larger goal of national security. People need to be willing to accept some sacrifice. If it was up to the liberal MSM we would have already turned over the keys to the White house to the Islamics. Fox, otoh, is a fair and balanced ally in the war on Terror.

You know, a woman in Houston was just awarded $52,000 by a jury after she proved that the hospital fucked up her HIV test and reported a false-positive to her.

Good for her, but how does this relate to National Defence?

If I were on that Jury it would have been a lot more.
I just got appointed to sit on some medical reform panel by the Governator. I can't get any of my friends to be appointed as dog catcher but they always want me for these positions.
After I got the appointment I had a strange vision of the future.
I will propose my drivers license medical insurance plan. Because the Republicans want me to raise money for them and the Dems don't want to anger me it passes. The Governor signs it (because of my early support for him) and the plan is implemented.
Within a few months the entire medical system of California collapses, and because it is such an essential part of the California economy, the California economy goes with it. Then like Dominoes, first the US economy takes a nose dive, and then every other economy in the world.
After every major city in the world is in ruins and on fire, there will be a congressional hearing of how such a stupid and inane idea got started. It will soon be disoverd that the idea was first proposed on a legal chat room where it could have been snuffed out in its infant stage but that opportunity was missed.
Replaced Texan, Penske, Slave, Ty, Hank, Not Bob etc. will all be in the hot seat in front of the committee chairman trying to explain why they didn't do something to stop this calamity when they had the chance. I can just hear the Chairman screaming - don't any of you have even have a speck of a civic conscience?

What? Isn't your party the party of tort reform? It was a false positive. She doesn't have HIV. She even said she wasn't upset about until the hospital didn't get on its knees and BEG for forgiveness.
How the fuck was she harmed to the tune of $53K by NOT having HIV?

She said she wasn't upset? A false positive? You are told you life is pretty much toast or at least ruined and they don't expect any psychological scarring to go along with that?
What if she committed suicide.
I assume there was negligence. If there is one test they should be sure that they give you the right result it should be this one.

He is not without a compassionte heart, so I think it is probably a combination of arrogance and the mistaken (?) belief -- which is a hallmark of his administration -- that giving an inch to any critic is a sign of weakness which will only lead to further attacks and weaken his position.

I don't know why I continue to read your posts. I read that huge post by PLF and I don't get it. Where you simply trying to tell me to commit suicide. If you were couldn't you have just said that instead of making me read that inane post without any reference? Was the reference to that post somehow supposed to be funny?
