So my wife had a male middle school art teacher that she found influential, inspiring blah blah blah.

Once when we're back in town we go to introduce our kids to him. Point is he has only seen wife once since she graduated.

A few years later she goes to school webpage and sends him an email. They start writing. After a few months she gets an email saying:

1) he is unhappy in his marriage
2) when he "makes love" to his wife he sees my wife's face.
3) he knows they would be happy together
4) he wants to come out here and see her.

So she says, sorry no*, and they should not be in touch anymore. Meanwhile we're creeped because we're afraid he might come here and start stalking. Plus, we're creeped because the "face" he remembers is a 13 year old girl's face, and the guy is now the principal at the school.

Anyway, we don't hear from, or see him, for a year. Then when looking at the IM my daughter recieves I happen to see a screen name with his name in it, message "Hi, I'm a friend of your mom's- can we be friends too?"

*I know she is probably fucking him behind my back- maybe right now while I'm laboring here at the Company.

Does your PC automatically log your wife into IM when it's turned on? Or did this guy somehow find your daughter's IM/email address?

What is the rule on "of" and the possessive apostrophe? It seems like you'd either say "I'm your mom's friend" or "I'm a friend of your mom."

I had better grammar at 13 than I do now.

the 13 year old face was wife's in middle school. It wasn't that complicated a story fringe.
