I want to know one thing. Can my posts be edited by a moderator or admin to add (add, not remove) information that I find to be offensive? Especially something that is not related to either my post or anything that I have publicly posted on any of these boards?
I don't care if a moderator wants to post under their moniker something insulting about me. I can deal with that. But if a moderator has carte blanche to do whatever the fuck s/he wants to do with my posts, then I want to know about that before I post.

Can? Yes, moderators and administrators have the technical ability to edit posts and do so from time to time.
Will? No, for the most part moderators and administrators do not have carte blanche to edit posts unless there is something outable or objectionable in the posts. For example, I edited a Taxwonk post that I felt was overly threatening to the President. Ty edited a Diane Keaton post that contained disturbing images of dead bodies after a poster complained about them. I have deleted posts at the request of the posters. Ty, from time to time on the politics board, will add (with his signature) editorial commentary to posts. I cannot guarantee that posts will not be altered by moderators and administrators, but it has been made clear to every admin and moderator after lengthy discussion on the mod board that it is NOT ok to alter posts and/or profiles without grave cause and consideration and/or the consent of the poster.

I don't think the board needs to put up with this level of vulgarity. Can someone ban this barely_legal chick?
eta: I cannot believe I was beaten to a joke by Wonk, of all people. Touche.

There are problems with this statement.
1. Paigow makes many claims about her rights and how she is treated on this board. The last one was serious. The admins and mods do not act based on one version of the story. And, as has been the case since this board was started, a discussion is being had at how best to handle the situation. Paigow gets pissed and throws out ultimatums because she is offended. I, among others, told her to take it easy until we found out what happened and could come up with a solution that everyone is okay with.
You're framing it solely from her point of view. "But it's my understanding that she asked to be deleted because none of the moderators or administrators on this board would promise her that her posts would not be altered to include information that she finds offensive and/or potentially outable." This is misleading.
2. The next problem is the following: "she finds offensive and/or potentially outable."
First of all, I don't give a shit about what she finds offensive. But to the extent that her (or anyone's) posts or profile is being edited by an admin or a mod, I have a problem with it. I think that's out of bounds.
Second of all, there is no one objective standard for what is outable. Is collecting information that people have put in their own posts and posting it in one place be defined as outable? Some may think so. Is paigow's (or any person's who is the subject of an outable post) standard of what is outable what is key? Can we come up with an objective standard? These are all questions that should be discussed. But I don't think we're going to come up with a bright-line rule. If we could, many more pussies would be flipped.
Not many people would argue with this and your sentiments are exactly what has been relayed. We are now trying to figure out how to proceed so that no one will have a fear of that happening again.

Just a point of information: in what role are you part of the "we" which is working on a solution? Are you a moderator or admin?

3.
You can laugh with her and at her (which she knows and runs with), and when she's on, her stuff can be very goddamned funny. She's good because her stuff is unvarnished. A lot of people measure their comments, and are careful in response. A lot seem to be overly concerned with being clever, instead of balls out funny. Paigow was good because she was smart enough to throw out the high brow witty shit, while also offering great low brow material. There aren't too many people whose lack of self control forces them to make such a spectacle of themselves and provide the rest of us with some really funny quips and excellent source material all in one shot.
Yes, RT probably deserves sainthood for the Insurgency crap and having to put up with Paigs' admin complaints (her only really dead ass boring material). But I don't see anyone can say Paigow wasn't terrifically entertaining. I honestly will miss her here.
But I also know her lack of self control will bring her back.

I am a lowly mod of a useless board who only got into the conversation because I thought what happened was fucked up.

Why don't you just tell PLF that he sucks to his face instead of beating around the bush like this?

I wasn't referring to him. He is balls out funny.
And I can't touch him anyway. He occupies rare air and, since that Gonzo piece, I fell inferior in his presence.

What?
What would spam spiders glean by reading old posts?
