Oh hell, in no way was I implying that I'm the shit at all in terms of my level of fitness right now. I'm in decent shape (especially considering that I spend most of my day in a chair), but not great shape. It sort of scares me that someone like me wouldn't have that much of a problem passing the test. I certainly wouldn't want to rely on me to carry out a war.
ETA: Situps and pushups wouldn't be a problem at all, but I'm a sloooooow runner. I don't think it'd be too difficult to run two sub-ten minute miles, but it's not something I'd particularly excell at. That said, I'm up to 9 miles on this weekend's long run, so I'm probably a lot faster at shorter distances than I think I am.

I was complimenting you on your improvement. I didn't think you were bragging. I'm happy you're in decent shape. I was just saying that the army standards seem low. I expect a soldier to be able to do more than 13 push ups (or whatever it was). I wonder if they've changed since 2001.

Yes, it's more stringent. By how much I'm not sure. But they laugh at the army's test. Because they're arrogant, being the few. the proud. etc.

I expect with all the working out you have been doing that you could do much better than just pass that test.

Those 50-point marks are for initial entry. Before they kick your ass, if you are headed to job/unit that needs to be intensely fit. The ongoing requirements are slightly higher (60 points), but that's spread across, I gather, all types of personnel and functions. Guys running around a lot are put through a lot more punishment.

aaaah. I only really looked at the numbers for my gender age group, which are the second most lenient. Yeah. It does seem rather ridiculous that I could probably pass at the 18-21 year old men level for pushups and situps, though probably not running (yet).

I'm on the 2x a day regimen these days. As soon as I can hire a new secretary I'll be looking for the 3 a day pop.
Cheers!

I have been like this again since I retired from the game. To be frank, I found that when I was in the 3-4% body fat range that such a state impacted on my chemical/hormonal balance to the extent that my libido was somewhat muted. Always actionable, but muted.
