Yet another reason why I hate this administration

The panel appointed by the FDA to study the issue overwhelmingly said to go ahead and make it OTC over two years ago. The AMA supports making it OTC, but the assholes over at the FDA overrulled their own fucking panel, and delayed the ruling.

Then! Then, a study comes out from the UK in June showed that there was no change in the likelihood that women would engage in unprotected sex after emergency contraception became over-the-counter in that country. Women in the UK haven't suddenly gone crazy with the unprotected sex just because they can hop over to Boots the next morning and grab a morning-after pill. Which is a good thing, because, take it from me, the cramps associated with taking those pills shouldn't have to be endured unless absolutely necessary.

So the "girls gone wild" doom and gloom scenarios aren't exactly the norm.

Plus. Plus! Medically, you're not considered pregnant until you start producing the pregnancy related hormones. There may be a fertilized egg inside your body, but the medical establishment does not consider you pregnant without those hormones. The story cited above pointed out that current NIH guidelines regarding research on pregnant women use the the presence or absence of certain hormones for determining if a woman is pregnant.

I fucking hate this administration and it's total disregard to science.

Speaking of the babyjesus, and Ash Wednesday, is it just me, or has it been for nearly 40 years that Ted Kennedy has been in the limelight and his behavior hasn't always been laudatory. There are still many questions over the Mary Jo Kopechne death at Chappaquidick and though Kennedy, who was driving the car and left her to die, has denied any wrong-doing, he must realize he will have to account to God for whatever he has been covering up in her death.

I hesitate to write this as it smacks of paranoia. also little fringe benefit is the closest thing to a friend I have, and she is quick to chastise me if I drift towards the accusatory, but I must say, i have long believed that the entire Kennedy family has lined up to act in a manner that makes Teddy's behavior seem normal and even above board.
