				Does it blend?

 Cool.

Now, I wonder if one of those gymnasts could hold a blender in one hand while balancing on a teammates head with the other.

 Chick #2: I know. They're in power.
Chick #1: I started to watch X-Files the movie last night. Fucked up shit, dude.
 Chick #2: I couldn't watch it after a while.
Chick #1: Fucking government. They are so involved. They know. They know what the fuck is going on.
Chick #2: Oh, I know this. People need to understand -- they want us dead. I should not get started on this. Yo, war of the worlds -- so fucking true.
Chick #1: The aliens are going to fucking come from under ground, and they are just going to tear shit apart!
Chick #2: Stop... We have to sleep soon, and this kind of talk will not help our dreams.
Chick #1: If I'm going to go, I hope it's quick. I don't think I could handle living on a ship and being tortured.
Chick #2: You're right. You are right.

Chick #1: No, no, no. I would rather have T-rex roaming the streets than some lanky, big-eyed motherfucker that can blow you up with its mind!
Chick #2: Okay, you have a point.
 Chick #1: See?!

 | I saw Transformers (among other movies) this weekend, and the trailer for the unnamed JJ Abrams project was suitably scary/intriguing .

I saw Hairspray over the weekend (it was at a free screening my friend invited me to). I was basically indifferent to this movie but I figured, what the hell, I'll see it. I was very pleasantly surprised. It pretty much rocked the whole way through, and John Travolta was very good. He plays Edna as a woman, not like Divine or Harvey Fierstein did -- their portrayals were much, much heavier on the camp. I'd say it was the best musical-to-movie I've seen (better than Chicago and Dreamgirls) -- although it was pretty much an operetta -- there is only about 3 lines of actual spoken word in the whole movie. And stay for the credits -- there is a song by all three Tracy's (Ricki Lake, Marissa Jaret Winokur and Nikki Blonsky) over the credits. It's totally cute.

And the lyricist and score guy talked to us for about an hour after the movie about how they put everything together, and that was very interesting so perhaps now I'm a little biased, but the movie really was fun. |

I also saw Transformers and the JJ Abrams trailer. I thought the name of the movie was Bad Robot however perhaps that is the name of the production company?

By the way, I really enjoyed Transformers , mostly because the director/writer didn't take the movie too seriously. I thought that worked very well.

 | That's quite a review. I loved the movie version of Dreamgirls. I was so-so on seeing this movie because I liked the original movie. Maybe I'll add it to my list. |

 | Yeah, Bad Robot produces Alias and Lost.

I also liked it, though I'm firmly of the opinion that someone needs to write a screenplay where Michael Bay doesn't need to direct any dialogue whatsoever and sticks only to the action sequences.

Do They Have This Problem at the Post?

I walk by the new New York Times building all the time, but I haven't been inside. Is this true? And what are "crying rooms"?
Per Musto:
http://www.villagevoice.com/nyclife/...,77179,15.htmlMeanwhile, the new New York Times offices need all kinds of serious surgery, as you may have already read. First off, there's practically nowhere private to go in the whole place—everything's brightly lit, and even the "crying rooms" for privacy are glassed off in full view. Worse, there are maggots dropping out of the vents because the vermin in there—you heard me—have attracted larvae-wielding horseflies. In one department, horrifyingly enough, a maggot fell about an inch away from someone's coffee, almost creating a highly unwanted mug of magga-ccino! It's like a CHRISTIAN BALE movie. I haven't been so shocked since Mary Poppins said cunt at Broadway Bares.
