It was released by the National Security Counsel, a body over which Condi then presided. I don't really see how this adds anything to the main question, which is why did W ignore the threat presented by AQ until it was too late?

It was a really stupid question. Stunningly stupid. And I'm hungry.

The right spelling is
Transliterate it how you want; if you want to get it closest to the phonetic Saudi speaker, it would probably be ael-Qi'ida, ael-Kai'ida or ael-Kaihida
But the "ael" sound is usually transliterated "al" and Americans aren't fond of mid-word aspirations.
Usually unusual transliterations is usually the mark of an expert in an area, since it lets them spend time showing off their knowledge of Arabic instead of addressing policy issues.
(OK, the site doesn't seem to have a multi-lingual arabic font - I'll try to come up with a .gif or .jpg of the arabic - found it - Ty, why can't we type Arabic on the PB?).

Yes, Clinton didn't ignore the threat, but Bush did. You go with that one SS, and maybe you people will retain 40 seats in the senate.

Do you really look at that story and memo and think, "I'll bet Condi never received that memo."? Really?

Hank, you have to excuse at least fringey - She is clearly a junior associate that has obtained just enough knowledge to be dangerous.

hint- always look at the date- 1/25/01- Bush had been President 2 or 3 days- which means "here's something we've been living with the past few years- we want you to worry about it also."
All this memo does is show Clinton ignored the problem. Of course what Bush did do was order a plan to topple the Taliban, which plan was final by the end of August of 01. Pity Clinton did not begin the plan 5 years earlier, etc.
You have to look at dates when you want to use a document- even Ty knows that.

I look at the memo and it appears to be in draft form, which raises the question in my mind as to whether it was ever delivered.

I'm not making any statements about whether it is reasonable to expect that the Bush admin would have jumped all over this issue based on the memo. I think everyone dropped the ball on this issue; it was a threat that didn't get the attention it deserved under either the Clinton admin or the Bush admin.
I'm just saying, you are fucking insanely retarded if you really think a reasonable question to ask about that memo is, "how do we know she actually got it?" And the fact that that immediately jumped into your mind, despite the source of the doc, is a fucking scary commentary on how brainwashed you are.
Now go review some docs.

What do you do when you review documents, if you don't consider the dates? I'm not sure I want some of you doing document review.

Clinton didn't ignore the threat, and Bush did. That's true. Tellingly, you care less about whether this was true (there are books you could read if you cared) then the politics of it. Nice.

How does that date establish or not the authenticity of the document? Remember, I'm not saying that she wrongfully ignored it. I'm sure she got a ton of memos from different people, emphasizing different threats.
I'm saying club is a brainwashed zombie for instantly questioning the validity of a declassified document.
This is stupid. Go get me a donut.

I see nothing on that memo that indicates it was in draft form, and I see that Clarke put his initials by his name on the "FROM:" line, indicating that he was sending it.

Bush stopped some of the effective tactics Clinton had put in place over the previous 8 years? You think that shit would make news instead of these vague warnings you keep pointing to.
Farenhype 911 has Dick whatever his name saying that if we had put the Gore commission recommendations in place in 96 9/11 would NOT HAVE HAPPENED.

Yes, and Clinton's NK policy would have worked if Bush just had the brains to continue it.
