He's a fickle God. I might be using the wrong dialect in my prayers...

Have you read the little book "On Bullshit"? A professor analyzes which is worse, lies or bullshit. He says lies are better because they evidence the liar has regard for the truth - he acknowledges truth and creates a fiction to get around it.

The Bush Admin has regard for science. They know the pill is safe, and thats why they're lying to get around approving it.

Their disregard is for people.

When was the last time you paid attention to a school board race. Creationists get elected to school boards all the timel. In fact they target them, and they win a lot because no one pays attention. Are you sure there are no creationists on your local school board. If there are, you let one get through.

I was trying to convey the fact that I wouldn't let Delay hold a post as inconsequrntial as school board officer. School board members tend to be low quality local political jackasses. I was merely looking for an example of a body generally populated with shitheads wasting time fiddling with administrative garbage. School board seemed to fit, but you can substitute any other body of talentless, poorly educated local politicians you like.

I kinda like the position used back in the day -- dog-catcher (as in "McGillicuddy is such a hack that he couldn't get elected dog-catcher if he ran unopposed").

Speaking of Cindy Sheehan (per the re line), the politically adept per spanky administration had better be careful about attacking her. An older, reasonably apolitical woman in the group we had dinner with on Friday night was livid about W's "these are the kind of mothers we need" speech last week. She called it a despicable way to treat a woman whose son had died, even if you disagreed with her opinions (which may be, she noted, simply the result of grief and anger out at her loss).

True. Bush is much better off just ignoring her. Oncce he flies back to DC, her protest will peter out.

Well, unless somebody at MoveOn gives her a stack of dough to camp in front of the White House.

Who am I kidding? They've already got a place for her DC camp picked out.

The permanent protests in Lafayette Park aren't allowed anymore. Maybe they can put her up at the Hay Adams.

Its not permanent if she moves to a different location every day.

Were you the guy who developed the "what does is mean" defense for the Billster?

People used to live there, now they don't. Something changed. Burger, what is current rule?

Dude, the definition of permanent means "fixed." If she's moving a few times a week or day, she's not permanent.

Of course, MoveOn could just rent her an apartment near the White House and she could protest everyday with no camp at all, defying no laws.

she's not the first person to try and make a political statement. there have been people willing to give up the entirety of their lives to go to DC and make some ongoing protest. They once had big permanent signs and structures in Lafayette Park. That's all gone now. there seem to be no ongoing protests there.

Since I expect there are still people in DC who have nothing else they want to do, and they still are willing to bring 100% of their brain power to bear on the protest, I'm sure someone came up with the move every so open bit. For some reason that doesn't seem to get you a spot to complain.

Move On can afford the Hay Adams.

FWIW, this particular attack has lost some of its luster thanks to Karl "I didn't disclose her NAME" Rove.

Carry on.

Q: What is a "SKEK"?
A: Back in the days of the first GA boards, people who logged in were concerned that people would be able to "out" them. That is, they were afraid that someone would be able to look at the list of messages, review all of the messages posted by a certain ID, and then figure out who was the person behind the ID. In an effort to curb that fear, as well as encourage the free flow of information, someone created an ID called "Stan_Kyle_Eric_and_Kenny," which is a reference to the characters on the TV show South Park. The password was "southpark," and the password was posted on the site. That way, anyone could log in with the same ID, and request information, with less fears of creating a visible chain of messages for random snoopers. (See "Transition Defense" or "TD"). At some point, someone changed the password from "southpark," and no one knew how to reset it. So, a new anonymous ID was created: Stan_Kyle_Eric_and_Kenny2. This, however, proved too long for the GAs to type, and the ID SKEK2 (the first initial of each name) was born to save wear and tear on GAs keyboards. Over time, however, the group ID was abused. People would log in as SKEK, and post juvenile, repetitive messages, interrupting the flow of discussion on the board. The founder of the board never deleted the messages or exerted any type of control over the club. Shortly thereafter, several people who had populated the club set sail for greener pastures, and created a new club called, RealGAs.
TTBOMK, no SKEK ever became an OBE. YMMV.

Anyhoo, I took the weekend off, did y'all miss me?

BTW, on Friday night I enjoyed the Ice wine from Winehaven Vinyards (hi Ty!), located in the beautiful Chisago Lakes REgion of Minnesota (fwiw, it was a payoff of a bet I had made with Flower regarding whether or not RT would have a board hookup).

I highly recommend it.

eta: OMG!!! THAT is freaky!!

Speaking of, isn't this Day 26 of "where is his indictment?"

I thought it was day 26 of "where is the statement from Fitzgerald that the grand jury has not issued an indictment"?

October, my dear boy. October. Thats when this thing either fades away or turns into the greatest shitstorm since Watergate.
