It was actually my post, and I was paraphrasing a Flower post. But it's an honor to be confused with the pretty lady.

I would go with "Best regards" not "Cheers." Because I fucking hate fucking "Best regards." One of the happier aspects of my life is that it seems to be mostly lawyers who use it (lawyers and other assholes), and I don't hear from lawyers nearly as much anymore.

Dear E-mail Blocker:
It is my solemn duty to inform you that you have been outsourced to Mumbai, India. Never fear, quality and customer service will NOT be affected by this change.
Rather, we hope to assist you with your fucking off plans in a timely and sensitive manner. Expedite them, even.
Cheers! Indeed.
Outsourced Replacement.

Oh, "cheers" is so much worse! "Best regards" is stupid but at least it seems to be something people do because their partners do it and so it seems like an appropriate professional signoff. Cheers is worse because people do it because they have a friend who did it and they thought it was cute to inject some Britishism that implies a fun-loving attitude and so on and so on and so on.
Namaste.

Shall I also add "Dictated not read"?
My most hated e-mail phrase is "please advise". Used most often by pretentious assholes who don't know what they are doing but are trying to sound superior. They should write - 'can you explain it all to me again? Pretty please? I'm very dense and don't understand the difference between a MB and a GB.'

I prefer this to receiving a forwarded email with a complicated question with only the word "thoughts?" from the forwarder. At least "please advise" indicates that the person needs advice and does not attempt to pretend that the person has already given the question thought but wants to give you the opportunity to weigh in.

Anything is better than sig lines with odd fonts, large fonts, bold, and odd colors.

Hmmm. I use "please advise" when I'm pissed off and dealing with a total idiot who doesn't give enough information. "Please advise whether you need me to deal with this situation." (translation -- I don't know you enough for you to be venting to me, and you just sent me a long-ass email about some issue (most likely not even my area), but didn't say what it is that you think I have to do with it, and while I am tempted to just ignore it because you didn't actually ASK ME TO DO ANYTHING, I feel that that is counterproductive, you fucking idiot.)
OTOH, I have not had to deal with any morons who (a) forgot to add their newborns to their health plan for more than two months, and somehow want it to be my department's fault; (b) got a really expensive dental procedure without ensuring it would be covered, and think that if they just call over and over and over and over, somehow we will magically give them money; (c) signed up for an HMO because it's cheaper, but now want to switch to a PPO because want to use a particular doctor for some surgery, want it to be my department's fault, and think that if they call and bitch and moan and email and say rude things, somehow we will magically violate federal law and let them change their plan or (d) think that 18 days is too long for it to take for continuation coverage to be registered, in a company with 6 payrolls and 20 different health plans and 15,000ish employees, with high turnover.
So it's a good day.

When you become really big and important your emails consist of no-punctuation re: line sentence fragments with no body text.
E.g., "where are we on smith and jones"
I recall being advised that one should dress for the position you want to have (hence the blue overalls), so I have switched over to this format for all of my work-related emails.

I prefer the trustworthy "Fuck off", but Ollie's "Fuck off skank" is sometimes more appropriate.
(Is anyone surprised that we're up to 26 at this point? No, I thought not.)
