I still get pumped listening to Straight Outta Compton. I think it resonates sooo far beyond color, class, etc. That record jumped the fence between being class/race antagonistic and actually offered a brilliant commentary on real versus faux morality.

It's the "Never Mind the Bollocks" of the 90s.

That's bullshit. If you don't have the brain capacity to have otside interests and work, you should give up work.

My wife's musical taste is jammed in the 80s nostalgia shit. I can't take an fucking more Cure or Echo. Its awful. I try to drag her ahead, but she loves that 80s stuff. Maddening.
This study didn't seem to be about the first paragraph, but more the second. They were sort of looking at when does it happen that people get stuck listening to the same stuff over and over again.

They also looked at when do people stop trying new foods (sushi in the midwest was the focus in that study) and when do people do people stop doing weird shit to their bodies (piercings were the focus in that study).

With all the 80s revival stuff going on lately have you tried making her give a listen to the Killers or I Love You but I've Chosen Darkness or The Faint? I'd think that now is a great time for anyone into 80s nostalgia.

That wasn't 25 years ago. But I hear what you're sayin'. Crazy ass white people.

Yeah, that's true. I just feel like going back to sleep.

Interesting about the medicine. The doc told me I could take Tylenol.

I discovered today that Sirius radio currently has a channel dedicated entirely to The Who.

I cannot turn it off. That's some good shit.

How did you get hit in the head?

(I did pretty much everything you're not supposed to do the one time I was knocked out cold. But I was 21 and stupid. The stupid part probably still applies, but I don't heal as quickly as I did when I was 21 anymore. *sigh*)

NWA was hardly from the hood. I met one of the main guys, once and he struck me as quite preppy.

To me though, that makes NWA's impact much more impressive in that it was well thought out.

Basketball accident yesterday. Backing down the court guarding the guy with the ball, and the guy accidentally steps on my foot. Usually you can break your fall by turning or rolling one way or another, but I can't move my foot, and I'm headed backwards, thinking this will not end well.

Apparently I blacked out for about 10-15 seconds, and I come to and see the other players crowded around me with "oh, fuck" expressions on their faces. The ER doc proclaimed me OK and sent me home, as I'm not exhibiting disturbing symptoms other than a headache and feeling generally out of sorts. I'm pretty lucky, and I understand it could've been much worse, but still, I generally hurt. Blech.

I heard the promos for that. I just got a hand-me-down Sirius unit for my car and I'm not as entralled with it as I thought I would be. I love the no commercials thing and I do think that the programming beats the crap out of XM's (had it for years on Directv), but I feel like I'm missing a channel or two that would really make it for me. Right now I'm just listening to Alt Nation, First Wave, Reggae and Classic Rewind (or something like that). What are the good stations that I am missing?

That does sound nice, but I'm not the best company today. Raincheck?

Are you at work? You are a real trouper if so. I think I would just sit in front of the tv and set my alarm to wake me up if I nodded off.
