Speaking of Cindy Sheehan (per the re line), the politically adept per spanky administration had better be careful about attacking her. An older, reasonably apolitical woman in the group we had dinner with on Friday night was livid about W's "these are the kind of mothers we need" speech last week. She called it a despicable way to treat a woman whose son had died, even if you disagreed with her opinions (which may be, she noted, simply the result of grief and anger out at her loss).

I thought you were smarter than this. Why would the opinion of one person in a country of close to 300 million people matter politically to W (even if she is a swing voter).

Because there's nothing else going on in politics that anyone seems to care about. The Roberts nomination isn't getting much attention, local races aren't that interesting, the price of gas isn't something that anyone in politics really wants to bring to the forefront, and she's asking questions that increasingly more and more Americans want answers to.

2. I think her deep personal pain, and the honesty and integrity of her simple request for answers will win the day

Why?
Don't you know that the Kool-ade that the DNC distributes dulls the mental senses down a 2nd grade level? The best that the sheeple on the Dems plantation can come up with is "Bush lied" and "Bush is dumb".
A sad statement on a once proud and patriotic political organization.

I thought it was day 26 of "where is the statement from Fitzgerald that the grand jury has not issued an indictment"?
October, my dear boy. October. Thats when this thing either fades away or turns into the greatest shitstorm since Watergate.

October is the World Series and football season. If it comes out then, you'll never hear about it.

"Ok, we're sending out for sandwiches. Who wants one?"
"I do!!!!"
"Ok, Rev...what do you want? Ham? Turkey?"
"Um......hmmm...how about both?"
"I don't really care. Just make sure it's a big one"
"OK, how 'bout you Cindy?"
"Hmmmmm"

I thought you were smarter than this. You don't seriously think the issue is Cinday Sheehan, do you? She's a little crack in the dam. Individually, of course she's nothing...
But she keeps the debate over why we're there in the headlines better than any Bush opponent yet.
The bigger political questions are "Has this Admin betrayed out trust, and have we let them betray our trust? Have they gone too far and are they engaged in active cover ups and misinforming the public?" Sheehan is another force, battering Bush with those questions.
The guy's becoming a lame duck with a majority in both houses.

Because she may be reflective of the opinions of other swing voters. A canary in a coal mine, if you will.
Hey, I could be wrong. But I think that the Admin must be worried about Sheehan's critique catching hold in Middle America, or she wouldn't be getting all of the attacks from the Amen Corner (as reflected in hank and penske's lovely photshop images).
I just think -- based upon this extremely negative response from One Swing Voter -- that it may have been a tactical mistake to have the president actually get his hands dirty in the speech. He's supposed to leave that stuff for the surrogates.

Dissent. It was the same whinging almost two years ago with Shrieking Howie Dean in the "cindy Sheehan" role. Last year at this time Hanoi Johnny Kerry was doing the Cindy.
The truth is, the majority of real Americans supports this President, which is why he received a mandate last November. You Dims just are sorelosermen who keep crying over the same spilt milk but just use a changing array of crocodiles to shed your tears. Why not skip the middleman and move to France?

When you want to tell me what the American public is thinking, or how their thinking is changing, or what the effect of a certain policy position is, cite me a poll or tell me the results of a focus group. Don't tell me what one person thinks because that information is useless. And this has nothing to do with the First Amendment.
Again - a concept that is so basic almost any moron should be able to get it but some how people find it necessary to dispute the obvious.
