1. That's because you get a bunch of credit for having the tallest building in the US.
and
2. Chicagoans probably feel the need to actually vote for their city, while New Yorkers already know we have the best skyline in the country (and maybe the world -- although Hong Kong really is spectacular, especially when you fly in).
I love your city and skyline, but come on. It's only almost as big as downtown for us:

Good picture, but that's only really the area around the Hancock Center and totally omits the Loop...
Regardless, as a Chicagoan with NYC relatives, there really is no contest... Chicago is definitely the Second City in this battle.
While some of our most notable buildings in height and architectural significance match up well with NYC's best, for sheer numbers, square mileage covered, and that impressive canyon effect you get in Midtown, NYC takes it.

I've got it playing in my office. It's been such a crappy day, I needed some memory music to bring back happier, carfree times. Charlie Brown music brings me back to age 10 or so. Ahhh, the good old days, before my life was caught up in the web of Big Law. If I had the energy I'd go one with a Sebby-esque this job sucks rant but we've all heard it before. I wonder if Lego land is still hiring?

You are too young to appreciate this. Max came before things like the internet, back in cave man days.

Ugh. The masturbatory final episode alone is grounds enough to disagree. I think once they started running shows about the show, the series should have been euthanized.
I vote for Northern Exposure. Can't vote for MASH because the last three years or so were so dismal.

Perhaps in retrospect, from a mature perspective, Tom Wopat is the obvious choice. At the time, however, I was quite the iconoclast in my little social circle.

You were hanging out with the wrong crowd. Don't beat yourself up over it though, it happens to all of us sometimes.

Is the Sears Tower even in that picture? If it isn't, I start to think Thurgreed hasn't been to Chicago, because he appears to know of it's existence but nevertheless posts a picture, purportedly of "the" skyline, that omits the tallest (or is it 2nd-tallest now?) building in the world.
It's more likely that he was being characteristically sloppy.
I further note that, while that's a pretty picture, the skyline pictured isn't one that anyone would see with any regularity. (I'm assuming that the vast majority of people leave off regular boating during at least a significant chunk of the 8-month winter.)
