I'd say it's a lot more wholesome to hit her with that than splatter her with faux ejaculate.

Speaking of Gilbert. I couldn't be more impressed with that guy.

Amen to that. I've not watched a lot of Wizards games over the past few years, but this guy is as unstoppable as Kobe (which means that he's as unstoppable as anyone). I don't think Bowen could shut him down. I don't think anyone could. Maybe the Pistons could come up with some scheme where Prince plays him on the ball and Ben and Sheed are never far away, but holy cow.

It was more like: "you're going to defend or you will answer to me."

I don't even think you could seriously argue that he wasn't a "complete" player until his third or fourth year. I don't disagree that he became an outstanding defender, but he wasn't when he first came into the league. The other thing that I can think of, off the top of my head, is even the great Jordan needed to gain the confidence to hit the 18-footer, or at least learn that it was just as deadly as the drive to the basket. And he worked damn hard to make that jumper consistent, too. I also don't disagree that it's more than a "lead by example" thing. For what it's worth, I don't think LeBron has any trouble getting into somebody's face, but I think he's more concerned with A) keeping his teammates involved in the game, and 2) becoming a complete player. I think he realizes that if there's any one area of his game that still needs work it's defense, and until he masters that himself, you won't see him asserting himself to the extent that Jordan did. But he will. Trust me on that. I'm almost scared to consider how much better he'll be coming back from this offseason, and having experienced the playoffs.

Not for awhile, he didn't. And the most impressive thing to me was what he did with Pippen. Pippen came into the league and Jordan trained him, molded him and turned him into a reasonable facsimile of himself. He was never as mentally tough, but his playing style mimicked that of Jordan's. If Pippen played for any other team, he would never have reached that potential. Not a chance.

True, and the one thing I think LeBron has going in his favor is that ownership will more readily accomodate him earlier in his career because he does not play in New York/Los Angeles/Chicago. The main reason they signed Ilgauskas to a long-term extension, and flew out to meet him at the Los Angeles airport to do so, was because LeBron wanted him back. I'm interested to see what happens next year if we get a full year with a healthy Larry Hughes. Hughes is a solid defender, although I'd rather see him try to stay in front of his man and put pressure on him, rather than going for the steal as often.

He needs to learn (and I hope he will) about when to expend energy, how important defense is, how to work his teammates, how to get in someone's head, how to stay out of someone's head, how to work the officials, how to work the other team, when to demand the ball and when to make your teammates feel like they were the difference, etc. He may have it all in him still and we can't see it because he's too young. But he needs to find that stuff somehow. Some will come with experience, some he has to be born with. We already know he can take the ball when the game's on the line. But he should be studying old tape of Jordan, Bird, Barkley, Magic and Isaiah.
|
I would be surprised if he didn't talk to Jordan on a regular basis.
Strangely enough, you would not believe how much criticism there was of him earlier in the year about him not taking/wanting the ball when the game was on the line. A lot of people were going so far as to doubt his ability to take the ball in the clutch as late as February or March of this year. And we all know how that turned out. My impression of him is that he shares one very important quality with Jordan. If his critics can't find something to piss him off, he'll find it himself and raise his game.
I think he's learning how to work the referees better too -- if you notice now, he picks his spots more with respect to when he's complaining to the officials about something.
Oh, and speaking of getting into somebody's head, did you hear about what he said to Arenas in the last seconds of the final game? He walked up to him while he's standing at the free throw line and said something like "if you miss these two shots, the game is over." And sure enough. . .

England's Roster
Looking at England's roster, it's hard to see where the goals are going to come from. This Rooney injury is a bigger problem than I first thought. It's a good thing they've got an easy group, no?
The other strikers are an injured Michael Owen, Peter Crouch (ugh) and Theo Walcott, a 17 year old who has never actually played in a Premier League game, but is listed as being affiliated with Arsenal. I guess Sven figures that Beckham and Gerrard can carry them?

Kobe and Arenas have both been stopped until next year.
But DC was one of only two teams that swept the Pistons this year so props to him.

I played Esther in our local synagogue's play when I was 12 or so. I don't remember seeing any faux ejaculate.
I think Sebby and I have conclusively proven that Hank is wrong once again.

you probably never seen a minyan either- maybe only guys get invited to the more serious stuff?
True story- A Jewish guy walked up to me just outside of Toronto's Chinatown and asked if I would join them to complete a minyan- I can pass! but to support Sebby/GWNC there was nothing crusty on his talis.

I saw Rooney's injury in a replay of the Chelsea match, and as soon as he went down, I thought, "England's screwed." But Owen may pull through for them.
I also saw Henry's hat trick for Arsenal yesterday.
Prediction: Arsenal 3, Barcelona 2. Henry scores twice.

The site said the streaming version was the Radio version. What lyrics get replaced by dirty stuff on the album?
