Pity, because it was damn impressive he could not just knock over a bottle, but decapitate one. He really should have thought more about glass's slicing capabilities.

Sidd, do your duty

Okay. We understand that Ty has some serious charm IRL so you keep him around despite the fact that he misses deadlines and has to shift repsonsibilty on almost every file due to his blog addiction. sure it hurts the firm, but at least the other associates don't have to worry about being labeled "least attentive." But now on Fashion Ty admits he also spends considerable time doing rottiserie baseball. When will the partnership put its foot down?

As do I, and as I thought I made clear when indicating that "patriotism" attacks on Kerry for his war/antiwar stances are off-base and ill-directed.

Ahem. I believe you were the first to post the story here. Do I need to find the link?

The good news is that I possess regenerative capacities. The bad news is that was the justification for not awarding me the Purple Heart.

double standards

Harold ("Partisan") Meyerson in the WaPo:
  • In the course of the past week an odd double standard has emerged in the presidential campaign. Every sentence and gesture of the young John Kerry has been scrutinized -- and often deliberately misinterpreted -- for signs of insincerity, self-promotion, lack of patriotism and fledgling Francophilia.

The sentences and gestures of the young George W. Bush, on the other hand, remain shrouded in obscurity. You don't build a record if you don't show up, and that's exactly what Bush did during the Vietnam War.

The Republicans have subjected Kerry's time in Vietnam to the kind of going-over normally accorded war criminals. Did he really deserve that third Purple Heart? How big, exactly, was that piece of shrapnel that had to be removed from his left arm?

We could, I suppose, ask an equivalent question of Bush, but only if they awarded Purple Hearts for paper cuts incurred in the campaign headquarters of the Republican Senate candidate for whom Bush worked during the year he was supposed to be serving with the Air National Guard in Alabama.

Where were you in May, 2003? Remember the "Mission Accomplished" banner, flying a jet onto an aircraft carrier, wearing a flight suit, strutting before a cheering crowd . . . ?

Present day accomplishments being the subject there, and that being the difference. He was the CIC of the force that invaded Iraq.

As to your earlier post (Oops, Ty's earlier post) - how Kerry is parsed but not Bush - are you serious? Or, is he merely complaining that R commentators only rip Kerry? Does he complain thus in ignorance of the fact that D commentators only rip Bush? Seems sort of . . . simple.

Relevance? He was standing on his political record as leader of the military, not his own military record.

So, he knows how to fly. Kerry knows how to ski--perhaps he'll use that talent to good political effect as well.

He said "three limbs" -- the limbs were two legs and one arm.

But the GOP will expalin, and have explained that the particular circumstances of the loss mean that Cleland was nothing special, and that he deserves no special credit or respect for his service as compared the the opprobrium he deserves for not voting with President Bush in every instance. (Heck, Saxby [Chambliss] woulda been there too, but he had this trick knee, ya see . . . )

Ok.

So the mission was accomplished?

and . . . Bush had contributed to that accomplishment in a way that made it Ok for him to fly his very own jet in and wear a flight suit, instead of just showing up with his aides wearing a business suit like any other politician?

I was extremely unimpresed then, and am less impressed as time goes on. Seemed then and now like someone trying to be just a bit too cool and basking in the reflected glory of others. Bob Dole would never have done it, even if he had served in the AF rather then the Army.
