If a prospective newber doesn't like the clique here, then this prolly isn't the right place for that newber. To that (presumably disappointed) newber I say "Bon chance, newber. Hope you find a message board more to your liking." Not that anyone much cares what I say. And that's really okay by me.

We're amusing? What are we, like a fucking TV show? Jesus.

Is there any way to get a pretty-umbrellaed drink without having to go to TCOTU?

Yes, a soap opera/reality show without the encumbrances of the FCC.
ETA: The above is my nomination for the next board title.

Seriously? I'll look. The only line I can remember was "seemingly rational." If I am wrong, I apologize.

I already told you that he told you that so he wouldn't have to hurt your feelings on the board.

At any rate, despite the fact that the last time I tried this, I was roundly castigated by everyone from Flower to, uh, Flower, here goes.
I propose the following (I will not name names on a public post. If you think that I am talking about you, I am):
(1) People who feel the urge to make random and unrelated slams at other people resist the urge, or put the people who annoy them on ignore. In the alternative, if you really really can't help yourself, say nasty things about me. I pay lots of money to a mean woman named Helga to do this to me, and I'd prefer to save my funds for rebuilding my Beanie Baby collection.
(2) People who feel the urge to take swipes at others because they think that those people need therapy should read point number one.
(3) I like ppnyc. I don't always like her posts. I like gwnc. I don't always like her posts. I like fringey. I don't always like her posts. I like slave. I don't . . . well, you get the idea. This isn't about who I like and who I don't like. If you say something asinine in your post, no one cares if I like you or don't like you or had mindblowing sex with you that magical night in Vegas that I still dream about even if you never called me back, Fugee.
(4) This is a free place, at least until RT decides otherwise. I don't think that anyone is going anywhere, so before you post something, stop to think if perhaps you are making it unpleasant for everyone else instead of your target.
(5) Please do not reply to this post saying "hah! See, soup sandwich -- Not Bob is on my side!" (Hi, Soup!)
I realize that this is a Quixotic undertaking. But I still believe in a place called Hope.

This recent business of capitalizing "quixotic" has got to stop. I don't know who started it -- actually, I do, and it was Flower -- but it's got to stop. This is an internet chat board for lawyers, not a support group for turtleneck-wearing, pretentious, failed lit-crit wannabes, and we don't need any more estoric references to weighty, erudite, unreadable novels assigned in upper-level collegiate English Literature classes.

Yes, amusing--"to entertain or occupy in a light, playful, or pleasant manner." PPNYC is none of these.

??????? WTF? How am I light, playful or pleasant? Does that cat look playful? Or does it look like it either wants to hide, or scratch your eyes out?
