hockey, you hosers!

After a hard couple of days defending the right of large supermarket chains to let moldy grapes fester on the floor of the produce section without paying widows and orphans who are crippled for life after slipping on said moldy grapes, it was a pleasure to dive back into hockey playoffs. My somewhat revised comments:

(1) Pat Quinn (coach of the Leafs of Toronto) is quite the snazzy dresser. I especially loved last night's suit -- three piece, with lapels on the vest.

(2) The Leafs have the coolest home uniforms. By and large, the Original Six have the best uniforms, but Toronto's white sweater with the blue maple leaf is just classic. And I like how they wear the older version with the detailed leaf for the playoffs. It just makes the Flyers look even more stooopid when they wear their all black "alternate" uniforms.

(3) I may have been wrong about Mister Bean. The goaltending in the Flyers/Leafs games has been amazing, and the Flyer's goalie has been getting it done. I hope that Belfour outplays him tonight.

(4) But Martin Broduer (cue Puddy from Seinfeld in red face paint screaming "GO DEVILS!!!!!!!!!!!") is going to carry his team past Warren Sapp and the Bu.... uh, I mean Khabibulin and the Lightning. (hockey in Florida -- please), and then past Ottowa or Philly or Toronto into the finals.

(5) I am still overjoyed that the hated Red Wings were swept by Emilio Estevez's Mighty Ducks.

Me again: Your response basically says, "no, it's measured by unfamiliarity with TV and movies and posts about TV and movies. Dumbass."

Please turn the TV down. You can't even hear yourself think.

(What? It's off? Well, then, why can't you hear yourself th. . . . Oh. You're not. OK.)

Exactly.

And 4 excellect letters to the editor in todays WSJ on the same topic. No point posting a link, since you need a paid subscription to get WSJ-Online.

Are you serious? Did you even read the post? Why are you even arguing this? Did your wife shit in your cheerios again?

1. Adder has seen the movie.
2. Adder admitted to recognizing the character.
3. Adder most likely reads every post on this board (some of which have contained that particular quote)
4. The picture is clearly doctored.
5. The sign he is holding has no connection to an anti-war with Iraq protest.
6. ADDER ADMITTED THAT HE WAS A DORK FOR NOT PUTTING ONE THROUGH FIVE TOGETHER.

So, what conclusion do you draw? That I say he isn't cool because he's unfamiliar with TV and movies. You are projecting.

His dorkiness arises from the fact that although he HAS seen (and is therefore familiar with, dumbass) the movie and the line and the actor, he fooled himself into thinking that an obviously doctored photo of someone with a sign that is unrelated to the protest they are attending looked like an actor in a movie he has already seen.

It has nothing to do with his unfamiliarity with T.V. or movies. Read closely: He is already familiar with the movie, actor and the line. It has to do with his ability to process the information he has in his head against the information in front of him. If you can't see the difference, maybe you're too cut off from the rest of the world and should watch some more T.V.

Let's draw an analogy. You perform research on why fish-faced people draw irrational conclusions. Later, I show you an Onion article on why fish-faced people are the most rational of all hybrid species. You then ask me whether the rest of the world had access to this new information and if you could share the article with your fish-faced boss.

Afterwards, when I call you a dork, dumbass, I wouldn't be criticizing your lack of personal knowledge of the fish-faced. I would be pointing out that you had all the necessary tools at your disposal to determine that the article wasn't real. Understand?

Americans are fashion victims

http://www.salon.com/mwt/feature/200.../index_np.html

Article in Salon about a book asserting that Americans are fashion victims with no originality, whether they express said unoriginality in Prada or Dockers.

You can view the article w/o a subscription by watching an ad.

1. That you are on coffee number seven, at least.

2. That, realistically, you should look at stopping after two or three.

3. That, when you are over-caffeinated and get unnecessarily insulting, you really, really hate to be called on it.

I will watch this show because there is nothing else on at 9 on Mondays.

#17 the motivational speaker was indeed creepy. I loved constant self-analysis. The guy is incapable of just talking without a motive. I can see this guy in bed, "I will now touch you here, which will cause you to react by touching me there." Princess Hayley is buying it, though. Did anyone notice that she got rid of all the funny/goofy guys and kept all the macho types? Unfortunately for her, that means she kept the lawyer, who was confident but the oogliest guy there.

I think that crazy #10 mascot guy was an act. She handled his tirade gracefully, regardless.

I found a site that does logos for free. They seem to actually, enjoy the work and having their stuff out there, go figure

Anyway, I would love some thoughts on the designs they have started to do for us.

Please respond here or PM me.

Thanks

I checked in on the show during commercial breaks from the Spurs victory because I could not help myself. So, clearly, I am informed enough to make some comments:

The millionaire will take it -- since he has been dropping hints about how he will take care of her.

She definitely eliminated the hottest guy already.

Since she is the one we get to see, she's pretty, but she's not overwhelmingly attractive. Why are they treating her as a princess? Stupid tv.

Princess Hayley reminds me of Jennifer Garner.

Does anyone understand why she had three hairstyles while wearing the pink gown (curly bun, down, and pony tail)? Also, she called #5 from the walkie talkie when she was wearing the teal shirt with straight hair--she was given the walkie talkie when her hair was in the curly bun (pink dress) and presumably cut #5 later that evening while still wearing the pink dress (but with the pony tail). When did she have the straight hair and teal shirt on? I think there was some weird editing going on.

None of the remaining ten are attractive in the slightest, IMHO. I would be pissed.

I think I've seen that "The Page Could Not Be Displayed" logo somewhere before.

The link didn't work for me either, but I was able to see the designs by going to The Virtual Illusion Website

If you click on forums and look for leagleaze's post, you can see the three designs. None of them seemed impressive, but the second was the best of the lot.

While I think this show is really kind of slow and boring and the sport of looking askance upon the tools and fools of reality tv is losing its pull for me (ie, what is your favorite chain restaruant was not a LOL moment for me), I will say that the final episode of this show might be entertaining as it is probably going to be something like meeting an FBer for the first time whose posts you have enjoyed for awhile. You are really curious and optimistic and inevitably you are horribly disappointed. But you get drunk anyway, hoping to force them back into your image of them.

Back to the coalmines.
