Men's suits

BB is the worst. The stitching is industrial and the fabric feels like paper mache. I have an old allegedly "high end" BB suit which is sold as hand made, but the outside stitching appears to be done by machine and made to look like its done by hand (the space between the threads is too symmetrical). No matter how many times I gripe, however, every Christmas some relative gets me a gift certificate to BB. I usually use the certrificate to buy shoes, since certain of BB's shoes are made by Alden and actually a pretty good deal.

All that said, BB stuff still wears better than Polo.

Hart Shaffner and Marx is not comparable to a Hickey. You're comparing a Volvo and a Benz there. The fabric in a Hart is miles cheaper.

Brioni is a the Ferrari of suits. If you saw a Brioni for $399 and you didn't buy it, you're fucking nuts. Most Brionis run in the $3000 range. I have never felt fabric as smooth as a Brioni. I wish I could afford one.

What still amazes me is that Armani sells like it does. Its good fabric, and I get the whole loose shoulder drape thing, but there is nothing more uninspired than Armani. Its nothing but drab muted solid fabris punctuated with the occasional barely noticeable pattern. The shirts are all cheap looking point collars and the ties look like they were picked out by accountants. Armani seems a lot of money to waste to look pretty damn uninteresting.

Rainy Days and Mondays

{whine} Is there anything worse than the Monday after a holiday weekend? {/whine}

Don't answer that, I'm sure there is. But there won't be time to think about it until this two foot stack of accumulated crap has been taken care of. Ugh.

Speaking of weekend fun, here's a gift idea for the upcoming holiday season:

a $20,000 pair of flip-flops (spree: news story, no photos)

What am I talking about? From Slate's Dahlia Lithwick ...

The reviewers totally missed the boat on Average Joe—a show in which a passel of ordinary bachelors—fat, pasty, short, bespectacled, over-educated, socially backward, and seemingly overwhelmingly Jewish bachelors—compete for one luscious blond vixen, Melana, who'd been led to believe she'd be meeting 16 "Prince Charmings" for a For Love or Money-type extravaganza.
Thank you. Jesus, I should write for one of these snarky magazines, instead of giving you ingrates, and Not Bob, my brilliant shit for free. Next thing you know, Dick Gautier is gonna get a ten minute spot on Today extolling the virtues of whatever that cartoonish shit is he does. Maybe he will go out on to the Proleza and draw some of the fine folks from West Virginia, who are in NYC on their honeymoon. Did she call it Average Jew or is that one still mine?

I don't remember this from Barbri

From today's Washington Post:

Quote:
When John Raymond Bushey Jr. became the first person in as long as anyone can remember to be convicted of adultery in Virginia, several things happened:

He resigned his position as attorney for the Shenandoah Valley town of Luray, Va., a job he'd held for 32 years.
I know there's a Luray Caverns joke in there somewhere, but I'm too Mondayed to think of it. And good gawd, look at the guy's last name! You can't make this stuff up.

Yeah, I have to say I was pretty disappointed too, and I'm a fan of the show. Who buys that much house and doesn't furnish it? For God's sake, man, buy less house or put some more on the mortgage to bring in a designer to help fill the place.

Thom did a nice job, as usual, but Mrs. Hand and I were just shaking our heads at that mirrored sunburst thing he hung on their wall. And the high-ceilinged living room ended up looking like it had too much in it, but that just mght be because it had NOTHING before.

Ted had basically nothing to do since they hired a caterer... WTF?

The whole thing with Jai taking the theater buff to meet a cast was one thing, but could you maybe take him to a show that doesn't suck ass? (NYC folks -- Is that steaming pile of crap even still running after the critical roasting it took?)

Granted, the toupee was bad, but does the world really need another Moby wanna-be? And his Mom has to be happy with looking like a total bitch on national TV, but if the shoe fits...

On the bright side, Celebrity Poker Showdown... This should be a good lead-in starting next week.
Am I the only person who is tired of this show and thinks it should have been a five episode wonder? Or is this just the Metroplitan Home of television? Quasi hip to the gay so that the thirty something married folk who are still cool enough to live in the city but have closeted (no pun!) suburb dreams can watch and discuss openly. Though we all know its just TLC wrapped in Retro RIchard Simmons- I love the seventies strikes back-Massachusetts Marriage shiny metallic paper?

No offense to Aloha, but I notice that the fans of this show seem to be the married thirty something guys like you and Atticus.

So what's the worst holiday present anyone has givin to/received from a bf or gf? I ran out of time while shopping one year in college and just grabbed something as the stores were closing. So I gave my then-gf a soapdish. She opened and said, "Oh. A soapdish." Fortuantely for me, she knew that circumstances had prevented me from doing any shopping that year. And it was a very nice soapdish.
I received a bag to carry my laptop computer in from an ex. Not a stylish leather deal either- it even had velcro. I had just read the Rules at the time, and though not a Rules girl., I could read the writing on the wall. A man who wants to marry you will not buy an unromantic gift like a toaster (or a computer bag) for a gift. I never forgave him and think I even nicknamed him Computer Bag for a bit.

What kind of pretentious asshole thinks that they are such a celebrity that they can sell their used piece of shit for thousands more than its worth just because you get to hang out with him for a few hours. Did you see the pics of him posing in his car. What a tool.

You just reminded me. My favorite nickname for one of my exes was the Douchebag, not just because he was a douchebag (he was, but cute and extremely wealthy, so a fun douchebag), but because it fit so well with his actual name, which was Dusan (pronounced douche-aan). Ha. memories.

It took this for you to realize that Tiger has issues being black? He won't even say "I'm black" and you didn't figure out that he has issues before today. "In 1997, Woods publicly refused to identify himself as black, saying that he sometimes felt more Thai than black. He said he called himself "Cablinasian" -- a self-invented term that incorporated his Caucasian, black, Native American and Asian heritages." http://www.nwasianweekly.com/archive/commentary52.htm

Reminds me of the Chris Rock Tirade against Rae Dawn Chong who had similar problems saying what race she was. "Rae...you're black, okay"

I could careless if someone is in a biracial relationship and is insulted by this. If a black man only dates white women and picks a really, really, really white chick to marry, there is a problem there.
You are either an angry white man pretending to be an angry black woman, or you really are an angry black woman. Either way, i don't see why you are so upset with this. Yes, Tiger has issues. His last girlfriend was a pale blonde too, and I have never seen him out on a date with a black girl. So what. If you are an angry white guy, there is little to no chance that you would be dating a swedish model if you weren't a model yourself or if you didn't have a few million dollars. If you are a black woman (and Tiger dated black women) there is still no chance that he would date you either, unless you looked like a model. So, what do you care who he dates?

Okay, I got 3 out of 5, what do I win? Is it a date with a swedish model? Or perhaps a day with the Star of Angel and his used porsche?
