I saw the Melvins play at an art gallery in town recently, and they have evolved from pre-grunge into post-music. But I think they could make a didgeridoo work with their sound. A heavily, heavily amplified didgeridoo.

I made the mistake of asking a musician friend about the Melvins once. Don't do that. I had no idea they're the Velvet Underground of post-modern heavy rock. I could recorded his generalk comments and inserted them into every piece about the Velvets or Tom Waits or [insert critical darling/commercial failure here] and it would have fit perfectly.

Unless its Portugese and has a samba backbeat, it's three days past yesterday.

Yes you did. You posted some claptrap about a couple of their tunes.

Speaking of Brazilian disco, my sister is bringing DJs back to the Museum of Fine Arts Houston in conjunction with the current Oiticica show. The music series starts January 20. She's talking with one of the DJ stars of the Baile funk movement in Brazil, and she's hoping that he'll be able to make it to the February party.
Ya'll should come.

It will be stale by then. Your sister's going to make a fool of herself. You should stop her.

True, I mean, hell 10,000 people showed up for the Grandmaster Flash party last year. Talk about stale.

I saw the Melvins (with Nirvana) Spring-ish 1989. I think they were already approaching post-music. Heavy, loud introws flowing seamlessly into heavy, loud fade-outs.

I saw Nirvana in 1989 as well. At Lee's Palace in Toronto. I may have seen the Melvins too at the same time, but I don't remember.
